High damage but recoil needs to be controlled.

Call of Duty season six has introduced the Merrick 556 to Warzone, and the new AR has quickly established itself as one of the top choices for battle royale.

The Merrick 556 arrived with the season 6 Haunting update, and the gun boasts a balance between power and control at medium to long ranges. While it has a bit more recoil compared to other meta ARs, such as the Kilo 141, the right attachments significantly reduce kick and improve the handling of the weapon.

The Merrick also has a high bullet velocity and extended range capabilities, which means you can use it to take down distant enemies, making it ideal for both Verdansk and Rebirth Island. Having said that, here’s the best Merrick 556 Warzone loadout to use.

How to unlock Merrick 556 in Warzone

You can unlock the Merrick 556 from page six of the Black Ops 6 and Warzone Season 6 Battle Pass. It’s a free unlock, which means you won’t need to purchase the premium pass; you just have to grind all the way to page six by playing matches and earning XP.

You also get to unlock the Camcorder Haunting Blueprint from page 14 of the battle pass, but you need the premium version for that.

The Monolithic Suppressor is the perfect muzzle choice for BR because it doesn’t show you on enemies’ mini-map upon firing the weapon, while also increasing bullet velocity and damage range that are extremely handy in this mode. Pair that with the Reinforced Barrel, and the AR’s bullet velocity and damage range increase further.

The Vertical Foregrip significantly reduces horizontal recoil of the weapon, thereby increasing accuracy and stability. Extended Magazine II helps you bump up your bullets to 60, which is crucial to take down squads in BR. Lastly, the Recoil Springs fire mods further reduce the horizontal and vertical recoil of the weapon.

  • Melee: Personal preference
  • Tactical: Smoke Grenade
  • Lethal: Frag Grenade
  • Perk 1: Survivor
  • Perk 2: Tracker
  • Perk 3: Birdseye
  • Wildcard: Overkill

The secondary weapon could be either an SMG or a sniper depending on your playstyle. To do that, you have to select the Overkill Wildcard.

Smoke and Frag Grenades let you take cover and deal additional damage to enemies. For perks, go for Survivor to regenerate health and revive faster, Tracker to see enemy footsteps and outline enemies for you and teammates when you hit them, and Birdseye for larger UAV scan radius when you call one.
