Best Umeko build in Destiny Rising

Just go invisible.

Alongside Estela in Season of Daybreak, Destiny: Rising introduced Umeko—a four-star Void Hunter who does what Void Hunters do best: going invisible and debuffing enemies. She’s a strong addition to the character roster who can get even better with the right weapons and Artifacts.

Umeko is a support who specializes in debuffing enemies and healing allies. She doesn’t do as much ability damage herself, but with enough debuffs and solid weapons, Umeko can still catch up with the rest of the team.

Here are all of Umeko’s abilities in Destiny: Rising:

  • Shadows Absorbed (Passive): Dealing weapon damage absorbs Shadow Energy. When Shadow Energy is full and Shadow Shuriken charges aren’t full, it grants one Shadow Shuriken charge. In the Voidstep state, Shadow Energy absorbs faster, and a portion of the Shadow Energy overflow is converted into Voidstep recharge.
  • Shadow Shuriken (Signature): Throws a shuriken at the enemy, applying one stack of Shadow’s Curse for eight seconds. The more Shadow’s Curse stacks (up to three) the enemy has, the more damage they take. Applying two Shadow’s Curse stacks slows the enemy, and applying three also confines them.
  • Voidstep (Signature): Enters Voidstep, going invisible and creating a healing aura. Voidstep also grants acceleration, greatly increasing reload speed. Using Voidstep marks one of the enemies’ weak spots with Tangled Void (purple light). Breaking Tangled Void maximizes Umeko’s own healing efficiency.
  • Singularity Shuriken (Super): Throws a Super shuriken, applying four stacks of Shadow’s Curse. Mid-flight, the shuriken pulls in enemies and deals damage based on the number of combatants hit.

Her main gameplay loop is using the Shadow Shuriken to weaken tankier enemies like Shinkas and going invisible to heal yourself and your teammates. During boss DPS, you want to use your Super for maximum stacks of Shadow’s Curse and enter Voidstep to greatly increase your reload speed.

Best Umeko weapons in Destiny Rising

Just like Tan-2, Umeko wields scout rifles and snipers, so if you’ve already built Tan, you can simply use the same weapons here. The best options may vary depending on the activity you’re playing, but ultimately, what works for Tan-2 will work for Umeko.

There are two Mythic scout rifles you can use: DEL3 Lassi and Total Lockdown. DEL3 Lassi is a Void scout rifle with perks like The Bear Approaches, which increases its rate of fire and reload speed, and Syncopation, which increases the damage of every fourth shot.

DEL3 Lassi has more consistent perks than Total Lockdown and is great for general use. Total Lockdown is a Solar scout rifle with perks doubling down on damage. It’s not a bad pick if you can take advantage of perks like Shiver, but the DEL3 outputs slightly better damage during continuous use.

Polaris Lance is a strong Exotic option for add-clear, especially if you have its first catalyst, which makes targets explode on precision kills. The reason it’s in the last place is that, ideally, you want to use Izanagi’s Burden as your Exotic weapon.

As mentioned before, the best sniper to use is Izanagi’s Burden. It’s a Solar Exotic weapon with the perk Honed Edge. It states that tapping reload consumes the magazine to load a round with additional range and damage. This works perfectly with Umeko’s reload speed buff from using the Voidstep ability.

Another Exotic weapon you can use is Borealis. This weapon is about breaking shields with the perk The Fundamentals. It allows you to change the sniper’s damage type, allowing you to break any shield and complementing your role as the team’s support.

Out of Mythic options, both the 40000 Sidereal Year and Magoichi can be good with the right perks. The 40000 Sidereal Year has higher base DPS and also more versatile perks like Fraternity in the third column and Searing Mark in the fourth. But if you want to go to the dull Void with Magoichi, you can do that, too.

Umeko’s kit is about ability spam, with three charges of the Shadow Shuriken and constant refunds from the Shadow Energy. This allows for a near constant uptime on Nimble Veil, Courageous Planetisimal, and Valiant Veil Artifacts.

Inverted Tenacity in the second slot is a more generalist option in case you fall below a certain health threshold, but you could swap it for something else. In the third slot, you can also go with Inverted Fury, which will help during damage phases, especially if you have additional supports on the team.

One of the main defensive stats you need is Healing Bonus to improve the healing of your Voidstep ability. On the offensive side, you need Vulnerability Bonus, as it increases the damage the enemies take for each Shadow’s Curse stack.

The rest of the stats are quite basic. Look for general defensive options like Health Boost and Elemental Resistance. Leaning into ability damage isn’t a bad decision, but having Weapon Enhancement in your third and fourth slots is absolutely worth it to increase your weapon damage (including Izanagi’s Honed Edge) even further.
