Didn't this state these were action rpg's? Those listed are all turn-based for the most part except tactics ogre. Not overly familiar with the battle system for the last remnant as I haven't played it very much. Still i don't believe it would classify as an action rpg.

The article didn't state that Ren or any of the others are villains. They classified them as anti-heroes. They do what is right not because of their morals or because it is just. The individual's have a personals reasons as to why. Ren is rebelling against the authority that had wronged him in the past and delivering his own justice. He doesn't do it just for the sake of protecting others. He did that once and got screwed over due to the person being important in some regard and having connections.
