McDonald's and Pokemon are teaming up once again, with a new collection of Happy Meal toys set to arrive in stores soon in Japan. Pokemon McDonald's collaborations often start in one region and then spread out to the rest of the world, so this reveal may be an indication of what fans in the west can expect in the future.
Pokemon and McDonald's go way back, with everything from promotional meals to special in-game downloads being offered at the American food chain. As of late, fans have been able to expect McDonald's promos featuring Pokemon roughly every year, and they tend to experience high demand and popularity.

McDonald's Japan Reveals New Pokemon Happy Meal Toys
Now, new Pokemon toys have been revealed for Happy Meals, which will start arriving in Japan on August 8. There will be two waves of toys, with the first set featuring Pikachu, Mega Lucario, Charmander, and Squirtle. The first wave will run from August 8 through August 14. After that, McDonald's will switch to batch 2, which will run from August 15 to August 21, and will feature remaining Gen 1 starter Bulbasaur, as well as Eevee and Mega Charizard, a different Pikachu toy, and lastly, a rare secret toy.
As one might expect, the toys have different playstyles. For the first batch, Squirtle stands above a Poke Ball, and swings back and forth when the toy is slid across a surface. Pikachu is similar, except that only its tail wiggles. Charmander, on the other hand, is a spinner toy, while Mega Lucario is a target desk shooter that comes with a Poke Ball target to aim at. For the second set, Bulbasaur's toy works the same way as Squirtle's, Mega Charizard spins like Charmander, Eevee is a wiggling keychain with a Poke Ball carabiner, and Pikachu is perched on a wheel with a Poke Ball design. When the Pikachu toy rolls across a surface, Pikachu wobbles from side to side, before settling in the center.
These Pokemon toys are arriving alongside a set of new Pokemon TCG McDonald's cards, which will be available starting on August 8. One of the cards features a cute illustration of Pikachu reaching for a burger set in front of it, while the remaining cards feature Sprigatito, Fuecoco, Quaxly, Riolu, and Ralts. However, the cards will only be available until August 11, or for as long as supplies last, so those interested in the promo will want to visit during the first wave of toys to capitalize on both promos.
