Pokemon Fan Shows Off 7 Light-Themed Bulbasaur Designs

A Pokemon fan has recently designed a series of light-themed Bulbasaurs, depicting the popular Grass-type critter in different ways. While Bulbausar is often used in fan art devised by the Pokemon community, this work stands out due to its quality and the variety of designs employed to create seven unique versions of the monster.

Bulbasaur is arguably one of the most well-known Pokemon ever created. Together with Charmander and Squirtle, Bulbasaur was one of the starter Pokemon in the first generation of the franchise’s games, and appeared as part of Ash’s team in the TV show. From Level 16 onward, Bulbasaur can evolve into Ivysaur, and then finally into Venusaur at Level 32 or higher. Even in Gen 1, before gaining new moves, Bulbasaur was a pretty powerful critter, with access to moves such as Razor Leaf and Solar Beam.

Now, a prolific Pokemon fan artist called Oddarette has created seven light-inspired Bulbasaur designs and shared them with the community, obtaining over 11,000 upvotes. These multiple forms were inspired by lightbulbs, lava lamps, disco balls, 90s’ colorballs, Tiffany lamps, plasma globes, and triangular prisms. Each design is very interesting, as they use different colors and represent Bulbasaur’s bulb in different ways. For example, Light Bulbasaur is a yellow monster with a lightbulb on its back, while Disco Bulbasaur has glowing white skin and a disco ball instead of a bulb. Others, such as Plasma Bulbasaur, are pretty distinct, too, with glowing eyes and claws, purple skin, and a plasma glob on the back.

Pokemon Fan Shares Amazing Gallery of Light-Themed Bulbasaurs

This is not the first time that Oddarette has shared a gallery of inventive Bulbasaur designs. A few months ago, for example, the fan created six horror-themed versions of Bulbasaur, which saw the Grass-type critter get forms inspired by parts of the human body, such as teeth, brains, eyes, hearts, blood, and guts, which still looked cute, despite their horror inspiration.

Another recent gallery was shared by a fan a few months ago, and it depicted space-themed Bulbasaur designs. In this theme, the popular Pokemon was reimagined with designs that resembled galaxies, a black hole, a supernova, and more.

Obviously, other fans go for other kinds of redesigns, too. Last year, for example, one fan completely reimagined Bulbasaur and its evolutions, giving a Digimon-inspired makeover to the popular creature. Hopefully, more fans will keep sharing amazing designs with the fanbase, especially of classic Pokemon like the Gen 1 starters.
