Less than a month before the release of its upcoming virtual reality headset, Sony announced that Zombieland: Headshot Fever Reloaded would be joining the PlayStation VR2 launch lineup. Fans of the movie franchise will be able to empty their weapons’ clips on various undead in a revamped version of the original game, tailored to make the most out of the new features coming with the PS VR2.
The PS VR2 is an upgraded version of Sony’s virtual reality headset, made for the PlayStation 5 and bringing additional features compared to its predecessor. The PS VR2 improves player tracking by adding four cameras directly mounted on the headset and eye-tracking technology to further improve players' immersion in the games they are playing. The graphics are also better than that of the previous generation of Sony’s VR headsets, as the PS VR2 comes with OLED panels and 4K resolution. While the PS VR2 cannot play games from the initial PS VR headset, Sony already announced several games available upon the PS VR2 launch, scheduled for February 22, 2023.
Zombieland: Headshot Fever Reloaded is the latest game announced to join the PS VR2 launch lineup. This game is a revamped version of 2021’s Zombieland: Headshot Fever, rebuilt to take advantage of the PS VR2 and PlayStation 5 features. Zombieland: Headshot Fever brings the characters and humor from the movie franchise in a fast-paced VR FPS inspired by light gun games of the 90s, all while adding new mechanics fit for Sony’s next-gen virtual reality headset.
Among the new features coming with Zombieland: Headshot Fever Reloaded, players can sense the horde of zombies coming at them through vibrations coming from the PS VR2 and feel every bullet fired by their weapons through the controller’s haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. Compared to its predecessor, Zombieland: Headshot Fever Reloaded adds one more story level and three remix levels, new Gun Range challenges, as well as additional weapons and perks. The graphics were also revamped with new lighting, ragdoll physics, cel-shaded art style, and new character models.
Zombieland: Headshot Fever Reloaded is joining the already-packed launch lineup for the PS VR2. Sony previously announced that major games would be available upon the release of its virtual reality headset, including Beat Saber, Gran Turismo 7, No Man's Sky, and the highly anticipated Horizon Call of the Mountain, a spin-off inspired by Aloy’s adventures. On top of these VR games, Sony recently filed a patent to add augmented reality elements to PS VR2 games. Even if these AR elements may not be coming to VR games right away, Sony is still looking for ways to improve its VR headset and its interactivity with players.
Zombieland: Headshot Fever Reloaded will release on February 22 for the PlayStation VR2.
