James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is still over a year away from its big release, yet stars of the film, like Zoe Saldana for instance, have been keeping fans intrigued and guessing what the story has in store by sharing behind the scenes clips on social media. But recently, it looks like Saldana may have revealed too much, as the heads at Marvel Studios had to intervene and tell her to remove a certain post.
Fan anticipation for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is especially high because Gunn has already stated that the film will mark the conclusion of the current team's story. As such, fans are more curious than ever to know what surprises Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has in store, and Marvel Studios in trying hard to keep those surprises a secret.
Saldana, who is gearing up to reprise her role as Gamora, posted on her Instagram a glimpse of herself in full makeup while reading the script for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. While it seemed like a harmless post, Saldana was told to delete it in order to cover up any script secrets. She then uploaded the post again, but this time including clever edits in order to keep any secrets hidden. "Had to take this down before because of Marvel Security. Now that I covered what they don’t want you to see, let’s just focus on the Mate!!!!!" Saldana captioned on the re-uploaded post.
It is very difficult to tell what is written in Saldana's binder, other than maybe pointing out the "January 2022" text on the front of the binder that refers to some filming/production information. That said, Marvel Studios will strive to preserve any secrets surrounding its big projects. This is especially true of a highly anticipated threequel that comes roughly six years after its predecessor.
Right now the MCU is focusing on the multiverse, with countless surprise cameos rumored to pop in and out of many of the upcoming feature films. So again, it's understandable that Marvel Studios would take the necessary precautions. But even now with edits covering the details in Saldana's post, fans will no doubt continue to zoom in and try to pick out every minute detail they can find.
Concluding such a beloved trilogy, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is shaping up to be one bonkers cosmic adventure from the brilliant mind of Gunn. The film will also star Chris Pratt as Peter Quill / Star-Lord, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Bradley Cooper as Rocket, Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer, Vin Diesel as Groot, Pom Klementieff as Mantis, Elizabeth Debicki as Ayesha, Sean Gunn as Kraglin Obfonteri and Chukwudi Iwuji in an undisclosed role. Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special should also keep plenty of fans satisfied in the meantime, as it is set to release later this year on Disney Plus.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is set to hit theaters on May 5, 2023.
