Zenless Zone Zero has several tricky tactics to keep players returning, one of which is the Battery Charge, often seen as an annoying gacha feature. This guide delves into this restrictive mechanic, explaining how it works and how to navigate it so it’s less bothersome. Here’s everything you need to know about the Battery Charge in Zenless Zone Zero.
Zenless Zone Zero: Energy, Explained
Energy plays a big part in Zenless Zone Zero's combat, but it doesn't quite work the way most players expect it to.
What Is the Battery Charge?
Battery Charge is the stamina meter in Zenless Zone Zero. You need Battery points to accept specific commissions and farm materials at HIA’s Combat Simulation. Battery Charge is a restriction mechanism to prevent players from farming too many materials while encouraging them to return to the game frequently if they wish to progress faster.
You can store up to 240 Battery Charge points; most farm-friendly missions would cost you 60 points. So, if you don’t use any boosters, you are limited to four daily farming missions.
A similar restrictive mechanic can be found in most gacha games. For example, Solo Leveling: Arise locks farming behind Gate Keys, which replenish every day.
How Long Does It Take for the Battery to Refill?
Your Battery Charge restores fully every 24 hours. To be more accurate, you gain one Battery point every six minutes, ten per hour. Unlike most gacha games, Zenless Zone Zero doesn’t have a daily rest time. So, you won’t lose any Battery Charge leftover points.
How Should You Refill the Battery Charge?
You can replenish the Battery Charge by either consuming Ether Batteries, drinking coffee, or exchanging Polychromes with stamina.
Consume an Ether Battery
Each Ether Battery grants up to 60 Battery Charge points. The catch is that these items are quite rare, and you won’t be able to collect many of them. Use this method only if you really need to charge the battery and have no other viable option.
The most common ways to get Ether Batteries are Inter-Knot progression and Battle Pass rewards.
Exchange Polychromes for Battery Charge
You can refill the Battery Charge in exchange for Polychromes. It would cost over 1,000 Polychromes to fully charge the battery, which is a lot. You should retain your Polychromes because you need them for Zenless Zone Zero’s gacha mechanics.
Drink an Energy-Booster Coffee
The best way to refill the Battery Charge is by drinking the daily charge booster coffee. You can purchase this drink once per day at the coffee shop near the video store.
