Astra Yao is a Support-Ether character in Zenless Zone Zero who can be paired with Attack or Anomaly characters. This practically means that she’s a universal buffer who works with Agents from the DPS role.

To use Astra Yao, players simply need to press her Skill, after which she enters her singing stance, buffing teammates for 20s to 30s. The buff she provides goes up to 1200 ATK, which is better than 4-star buffers like Lucy or Soukaku. Afterward, if Astra Yao has enough energy, she can also enable Quick Assist so that players can switch characters effortlessly while triggering the Quick Assist move, which deals extra damage. This can be done up to four times. This Quick Assist system also makes it easy to trigger the Astral Voice Drive Disc effect.

1 Astra Yao + Miyabi + Yanagi

Miyabi requires players to keep switching characters to ensure she can perform her Shimotsuki Stance. When players enter a battle, they can typically use Miyabi’s Skill to trigger an Anomaly on one enemy, which maximizes Miyabi’s Fallen Frost stacks. Afterward, hold down the Basic Attack button and consume all six stacks to unleash a blizzard of damage.

Next, do two EX Special Attacks with Yanagi to trigger two Disorders and grant Miyabi four Fallen Frost stacks. Afterward, switch back to Miyabi, and use her Skill to have six Fallen Frost stacks. Hold down Basic Attack once more to consume all six stacks.

With Astra Yao, the rotation will start with her, buffing her teammates. Then, switching between Miyabi and Yanagi can be done smoothly as Astra Yao enables Quick Switch.

Similarly, players can also use other Anomaly Agents like Astra Yao + Jane Doe + Burnice.

2 Astra Yao + Qingyi + Zhu Yuan

Other than Anomaly Agents, Astra Yao is also perfect for Attack units. For example, players can pair her with Qingyi and Zhu Yuan, which replaces the previous Support, which was Nicole.

In this team, start with Astra Yao to buff, then switch to Qingyi to spam her Basic Attack. If the enemies are small, don’t worry about switching to Zhu Yuan as players can do that after Qingyi stuns the enemy. If there’s no Zhu Yuan on the players’ roster, they can also replace her with Harumasa.

It’s also possible to pair Astra Yao with other DPS + Stun, like Ellen + Lycaon, or Soldier 11 + Lighter.
