Zenless Zone Zero has officially shared all the details about the gameplay for upcoming S-Rank character Zhu Yuan, just a few days ahead of her release. The highly-anticipated launch of the newest action RPG from HoYoverse saw a small but diverse cast of characters for players to choose from, with plenty of different gameplay styles available. The game's first banner featured the shark-tailed maid Ellen Joe, who quickly rose to popularity as one of the game's most powerful Attack characters. Now, HoYoverse is gearing up to debut its second limited S-Rank.

While Zhu Yuan is set to receive her full playable debut later this week, the second half of Version 1.0 won't be the first time players have gotten to try out the S-Rank character. During the main story for Zenless Zone Zero, players are given the opportunity to control Zhu Yuan while completing one of the game's Hollow combat segments. Zhu Yuan is introduced as a powerful Attack character, who can put out heavy damage both up close and at range. HoYoverse is now sharing all the official details about Zhu Yuan ahead of her launch.

A new "Agent Mechanics Intro" post shared by Zenless Zone Zero's official social media accounts gives detailed information about Zhu Yuan's kit. Zhu Yuan's gameplay revolves around "Enhanced Shotshells," which she gains by using her EX Special Attack and Chain Attack to empower her "Suppressive Attacks" with Ether damage. Zhu Yuan also gains Enhanced Shotshells by using her Ultimate, which deals heavy Ether damage to enemies. Zhu Yuan's "Tactical Coordination" buff grants increased Crit Rate after using her EX Special Attack, Chain Attack, or Ultimate when paired with other Special Response Team members.

Zenless Zone Zero Details Zhu Yuan's Kit

  • Core Skill: Zhu Yuan obtains Enhanced Shotshells by using her Chain Attack and EX Special Attacks, up to 9.
  • Suppressive Mode: Holding the Attack button enters Suppressive mode, launching three piercing attacks. Using Enhanced Shotshells changes the attacks from Physical damage to Ether damage.
  • Ultimate: Zhu Yuan launches an attack using lasers and missiles dealing heavy Ether damage. Zhu Yuan's ultimate also grants her three Enhanced Shotshells.
  • Tactical Coordination: Zhu Yuan gains increased Crit Rate after using her EX Special Attack, Chain Attack, and Ultimate when paired in a team with other Special Response Team characters.

Zhu Yuan's debut in the second half of Version 1.0 is expected to be followed by her Special Response Team partner in the near future. HoYoverse officially revealed Qingyi as one of the next characters to join Zenless Zone Zero's roster shortly after the game's official launch, though no details about her element or class were given. Qingyi has already featured prominently in the main story alongside Zhu Yuan, playing a major role in the "Chapter 2 Interlude" story. Qingyi is currently expected to be released with Zenless Zone Zero's Version 1.1.

The addition of Zhu Yuan to Zenless Zone Zero's playable roster will have big shoes to fill in the wake of the game's first limited character. The HoYoverse RPG's current banner character in Ellen is commonly seen as one of Zenless Zone Zero's most powerful characters. Ellen not only boasts high mobility and enormous damage output, but Zenless Zone Zero also already offers an excellent team for her, pairing the Attack character with Lycaon and Soukaku. Zhu Yuan's launch in Zenless Zone Zero is sure to excite and intrigue plenty of fans.
