Zenless Zone Zero Fans Should Mark July 4 on Their Calendars

Zenless Zone Zero has confirmed its next special livestream focused on Version 2.1 will air on July 4. The update will add new playable units to Zenless Zone Zero's roster and is expected to pick up the story where Season 2: Chapter 1 ended.

As its most ambitious patch yet, Zenless Zone Zero Version 2.0 transported players to Waifei Peninsula and introduced them to new characters, combat mechanics, and more. The update also coincided with Zenless Zone Zero's first anniversary, which gifted players a ton of free pulls and a five-star character of their choice. In the latest main story quest, players collaborated with Yunkui Summit, a new faction that will play a large role throughout the 2.0 cycle. However, Season 2 is set to debut even more factions, and the developers have set the date to give players a look at what's to come in Version 2.1.

Zenless Zone Zero has revealed that Version 2.1 will be titled "The Impending Crash of Waves." A special program diving into the update will go live on Friday, July 4, at 19:30 (UTC +8). The promotional illustration includes Zenless Zone Zero's Alice Thymefield and Ukinami Yuzuha, two confirmed upcoming playable characters. The livestream will likely showcase their combat abilities and reveal new details about their unreleased faction, Spook Shack. According to HoYoverse, aside from new Version 2.1 content, the broadcast will also feature a "mysterious surprise" for players. Finally, like in previous special livestreams, fans will receive limited redeem codes for in-game items.

Chapter 1 of Season 2 left with a strong cliffhanger after revealing that the Exaltist Overseer has seemingly been revived by Sarah. The latter has also brought back Yixuan's deceased sister, Yijiang, as an ethereal beast corrupted by miasma. Per her lore, Yixuan is one of the strongest characters in ZZZ, but her sister was equally powerful. Version 2.1 is expected to expand on the main story, so it will be interesting if Yijiang's story could develop further. On the other hand, there are rumors that the upcoming update will add beach-themed explorable areas and new skins.

Zenless Zone Zero Version 2.1 is set to arrive around mid-July. The update's special livestream will confirm its full character banners. In the meantime, players still have the chance to pull for Zenless Zone Zero's Ju Fufu, a Stun support that works well with DPS units like Yixuan, or Caesar King, another valuable support.
