Summary

  • Zenless Zone Zero may come to Nintendo's Switch successor in the future, as producer Zhenyu Li expresses support and interest in expanding platforms.
  • A multiplatform release strategy for Zenless Zone Zero could benefit Hoyoverse, but for now, it remains a hopeful prospect rather than a confirmed plan.

Producer Zhenyu Li addressed the possibility of bringing Hoyoverse's latest release, Zenless Zone Zero, to Nintendo's upcoming successor to the Switch console. Zenless Zone Zero is the latest game from Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail developer Hoyoverse. Unlike its prior titles, Zenless Zone Zero is an urban fantasy sci-fi action RPG, which contains the same stylish action gameplay of its predecessors. Players can pull for a variety of characters through its gacha system by spending in-game currency.

Much like Honkai: Star Rail and Genshin Impact, Zenless Zone Zero is currently available on iOS and Android mobile devices, PC, and PS5 as a console exclusive. However, producer Zhenyu Li has weighed in on possible ports of Zenless Zone Zero to Switch and Xbox consoles, stating that they were working hard to bring Zenless Zone Zero to the consoles. However, he tempered fan expectations by saying that the arrival of the game on these platforms was a "hope" rather than something that was set in stone. Li has recently commented on the possibility of bringing the urban-fantasy action RPG to the Switch's successor, offering his full support on the idea.

In an interview with Famitsu (translated courtesy of NintendoEverything), the producer was incredibly open to the idea, as he was a big fan of Nintendo himself. Li noted that one of the biggest priorities regarding Zenless Zone Zero was increasing the quantity of the platforms they planned to work on, the Nintendo Switch's successor console included. Assuming things go well, Li hopes it will be an excellent experience that ends up being a reality. "As a personal fan of Nintendo I will be very happy to see that become a reality," said Li.

Hoyoverse's History With the Nintendo Switch

Despite the enthusiasm of Hoyoverse wanting to work on the Switch and Switch 2, Nintendo fans have been waiting for any official support from the developer. Genshin Impact was announced to have a Switch port all the way back in January 2020, and that it would be "coming soon." However, four years after that initial teaser trailer, there hasn't been any news about Genshin Impact's port to the hybrid console. As such, most have safely assumed the Switch port has been canceled, due to Sony and PlayStation locking down rights for Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail as exclusives for the PS5.

As a personal fan of Nintendo I will be very happy to see that become a reality.

Many companies have recently been pursuing a multiplatform release strategy for their games, with Hoyoverse wanting to do the same with Zenless Zone Zero. While the company is already doing quite well with its current releases in terms of profitability, a multiplatform strategy for Hoyoverse would greatly benefit the studio even more. For the time being, however, a Switch 2 port of Zenless Zone Zero is currently just a hope rather than a plan.

Don't go into the Hollows.
I know, I know, there's Ether in the Hollows, bizarre creations, even heritage of the old civilization, all precious treasures. But don't forget, there's also spatial disorder, monsters and mutants running rampant, and ultimately, a disaster that could swallow the world. They are not a place where ordinary people should go.
So don't go into Hollows.
Or at least, don't go in alone.
If you insist on getting into danger, go to New Eridu first.
This city where the good and the bad mix has many people who need the Hollows: Powerful wealthy tycoons, gangs that stalk the streets, conspiracy nuts, and ruthless officials.
Make your preparations there, find strong allies, and most importantly—
Find a "Proxy".
Only they can guide people out of the maze-like Hollows.
Good luck!
