Summary
- One Tears of the Kingdom player recently created an in-game vehicle in the shape of a giant dog.
- Their clever contraption doesn't just look like a big puppy but even moves like one.
One inventive The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom player has recently managed to put together a contraption that doesn't just look like a giant dog but even moves like one. Their creative feat of canine engineering later made the rounds on social media, adding to the massive list of impressive Tears of the Kingdom community creations.
The notion of designing mechanical animals has long been on the radar of the TOTK fandom. Since the latest Zelda game hit the market in early 2023, Tears of the Kingdom players have built everything from bugs and birds to horses and dragons.
Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Player Builds Incredible Mechanical Rabbit
A Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom player creates an impressive mechanical rabbit that can be controlled remotely and features deadly lasers.
Adding to this ever-growing list of examples, Reddit user Kmarkow has recently managed to build a massive mechanical dog. And while they are far from the first Tears of the Kingdom player to undertake such a project, what makes their creation unique is that it nails both form and function—the latter because it manages to move like a dog. Rather than merely sticking the hull of the vehicle onto four wheels, Kmarkow designed two axles that mimic the movements of a dog's legs, making the machine look like an overly excited puppy in motion.
The dog comparison also holds while the contraption is standing still, not least because its head equivalent is instantly evocative of something like a Dachshund puppy. Kmarkow used two angled Zonai Sleds for the machine's ears, while getting even more creative with the rest of its head. E.g., there's a carefully angled piece of raw meat that serves as the mechanical dog's tongue. None of the components used in this build are particularly rare, so anyone who has spent some time playing the game should already have all the Tears of the Kingdom Zonai devices needed to recreate the contraption.
Kmarkow's Tears of the Kingdom Dog Vehicle Parts List
- 8x Big Wheel
- 3x Sled
- 2x Giant Hook
- 1x Cart
- 1x Steering Stick
- 1x Raw Meat
- 1x Black Hinox Horn
This impressive dog vehicle is far from the first animal-shaped build that Kmarkow has shared to date. The same Tears of the Kingdom player previously designed a giant caterpillar bike, a mosquito aircraft, and an autonomous kangaroo, among over two dozen other inventive contraptions. Reflecting on their achievements on Reddit, Kmarkow recently suggested that they aren't done with this type of projects, having specifically expressed interest in designing a mechanical sloth.
While many players continue to get a lot of enjoyment out of Tears of the Kingdom's Ultrahand mechanics, Nintendo is fine with treating them as a one-and-done offering. In a December 2023 interview with Game Informer, series producer Eiji Aonuma said that the next big 3D Zelda will attempt to "create something new" rather than revisiting most of TOTK's systems.
