The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom allows players to express their creativity as they please, and one player took this opportunity to create a functional TIE fighter vehicle from the Star Wars universe. With the help of Link's Ultrahand ability, players have been pushing Tears of the Kingdom's building mechanics to their limits by attaching materials together to build all kinds of amusing vehicles, including an Armored Core mech and a Trojan Horse.
Although Tears of the Kingdom has only been out for a couple of weeks, some players have specialized in building functional vehicles that can be used to traverse the world of Hyrule. For example, an intrepid player has built an attack drone that has the potential to clear hordes of powerful enemies. It is also possible to merge the Legend of Zelda and Star Wars franchises, as one Tears of the Kingdom fan has created a Podracer using wooden logs and wind turbines.
The in-game footage uploaded by Twitter user Tara Clay showcases that the player can build a functional TIE fighter vehicle, which is pulled from the TIE Advanced X1 model featured in the Star Wars universe. They appear to have used a mixture of Zonai fans and slabs to create this unique war machine. After attaching materials together, the player moved to the cockpit and lifted their ship into the sky without any issues. Tears of the Kingdom players have come up with all kinds of impressive vehicles, but this TIE fighter might top all others in appearance. However, the ship barely floats across the sky due to its limited battery life, which means Link can only use it for a short time. Besides, the TIE fighter lacking any ranged weapons makes it useless in skirmishes.
Tears of the Kingdom not only lets players construct strange vehicles, but it also provides a huge amount of freedom to craft weapons and explore its open world as they please. Thanks to Link's Fuse ability, players can improve their arsenal with a flamethrower, a spear, or a hammer to take down enemies quickly. The addition of this ability leads to some interesting scenarios for Link and makes the combat in Tears of the Kingdom even more enjoyable.
The good news for fans is that Tears of the Kingdom director Hidemaro Fujibayashi has a few ideas for a potential sequel, which is rumored to be in the planning stages. Also, producer Eiji Aonuma has suggested that the game's free-form gameplay could be the main aspect of future Zelda games. Many players have praised Tears of the Kingdom for allowing them to explore Hyrule without any restrictions, and they want to see Nintendo take the same approach in the sequel.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available to play on Switch.
