  • A Tears of the Kingdom player showcases impressive creativity with a mechanical duck boat armed with lasers for defense.
  • Building mechanics in the game allow players to create operable machines.
  • The community continues to be amazed by the animal-inspired creations made by players in the game, hinting at even more complex builds to come.

While playing The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, one player created a mechanical duck that serves as a boat and comes equipped with mounted lasers for defense. This recent build is yet another example of the creativity of Tears of the Kingdom players, and the game’s community has applauded this latest effort.

As the sequel to the highly successful The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, there was little doubt that Tears of the Kingdom would be popular. However, the fact that the game’s building mechanics would be a significant reason for that success was likely surprising to some. While Breath of the Wild revolutionized the Zelda series with a massive open world to explore, the sequel took things in a new direction by giving Link new abilities, like the Ultrahand, allowing players to attach objects together to make operable machines.

Recently, a player known as kmarkow showcased the building possibilities in Tears of the Kingdom with their latest creation: a mechanical duck. Nicknamed the “Juggerduck” by the Reddit user, this impressive creation functioned as a boat while also having a likeness to a duck. Among the build’s highlights were the eyes, made of Construct Heads and Beam Emitters. Thanks to these Beam Emitters, the duck boat served as a deadly weapon, in addition to being a means of transportation throughout Hyrule. The creator also combined objects to make a golden-looking bill for the bird-like boat.

Unsurprisingly, this latest creation has caught the attention of members of the Hyrule Engineering subreddit. Several comments pointed out the Construct Head laser eyes, while others liked how the Reddit post’s title was supposed to reference the Terminator series. In addition, a couple of users were impressed that the boat could also be maneuvered on dry land. According to kmarkow, this was possible thanks to Big Wheels, one of the many Zonai Devices in Tears of the Kingdom, placed underneath the mechanical duck.

Creating machines based on animals has been a popular challenge in the Tears of the Kingdom community. Over the past few months, kmarkow has built a variety of other impressive contraptions inspired by real-world wildlife. Some examples include a mosquito that could fly and a rabbit that could hop.

Despite The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom releasing in September 2024, Tears of the Kingdom’s relevance is going nowhere soon. In fact, as the community continues to check out Tears of the Kingdom’s complex physics and building systems, even more nuanced builds will likely be made. Whether these upcoming creations will be inspired by aquatic wildlife, such as ducks, remains to be seen.
