In Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, players have the option to Fuse specific materials with their weapons. This allows them to obtain extra advantages such as boosted attack power, elemental properties, and the ability to break rocks found in numerous caves and mountainous areas of Hyrule.
The latter proves particularly useful when gathering gems and other materials that can be obtained from mineral veins in Tears of the Kingdom. There's one quest in particular that requires players to break rocks with ease. Here's what Link needs to do.
One-Hit Wonder Quest Walkthrough
The side quest “One-Hit Wonder” can be started and completed just south of the South Akkala Stable, located west of Tarrey Town and southwest of Death Mountain, in the Akkala Highlands region. The closest shrine that the player can fast travel to is the Mayachideg Shrine, which brings them right above the stable. Alternatively, the player can teleport to the Ulri Mountain Skyview Tower and glide down to the stable, located just between the crossroads.
To begin “One-Hit Wonder,” head just south from the South Akkala Stable. At coordinates (3087, 1673, 0201), Link will find a woman, Parcy, who is struggling to break a mineral vein. She proposes a challenge to Link: if he can break the mineral vein in one hit, he can keep any of the gems that come out.
Unfortunately for Parcy, this is quite an easy task for the Champion of Hyrule. If the player has a demolishing weapon like the Cobble Crusher, they will make quick work of the challenge, but nearly any heavy, blunt melee weapon should do the job.
If the player doesn’t have a suitable weapon on hand, they can head back to the South Akkala Stable to find a
Farming Hoe leaning against the stable’s back wall that can be used. A bit further behind the stable, near pens containing goats and cuccos, the player can find a rock that can be fused onto a weapon. Another fusible rock can be found at the crossroad south of the stable.
The rock-fused weapon will be suitable to break the mineral vein. Simply return to the Parcy and the mineral vein and give the blunt weapon a good swing, and the mineral vein will break apart. It will drop a few random gems, such as Rubies and
Topaz, which Parcy will admit that Link has won fair and square. This will complete the simple quest “One-Hit Wonder.”
