In order to reveal the map in Tears of the Kingdom, players will need to activate the Skyview Towers. There are 15 in total, but one that may give players some trouble is the Mount Lanayru Skyview Tower. This Tower not only requires cold-resistant gear/buffs, but it's also impossible to reach for those who try climbing the icy pillars surrounding it.

Mount Lanayru Skyview Tower opens up the map for Lanayru Region as well as their Sky Islands. Unveiling the Lanayru Region will make it easier for players to spot Kakariko Village and Hateno Village. There are a few methods of reaching/activating the Skyview Tower on Mount Lanayru in Tears of the Kingdom that involve Zonai technology or one of Link's new Abilities.

Where is the Mount Lanayru Tower?

loz totk lanayru skyview tower location

Mount Lanayru and Mount Lanayru Skyview Tower are to the far east of Hyrule on The Surface at 3846, -1307, 0539. Players will notice that it's north of Hateno Village and far east of Kakariko Village. The best way to reach the Lanayru Region is by diving from the Lanayru Sky Archipelago (the Sky Islands above Lanayru) or taking a horse (or vehicle) along Lanayru Road (between Kakariko Village and Mount Lanayru).

Once players reach Mount Lanayru, they'll want to equip level 2 cold-resistant gear or have a Chilly Elixir that gives a level 2 cold weather resistance. Without this, the freezing weather will chip at Link's HP. There are also plenty of monsters along Mount Lanayru's path that can freeze Link solid if he's not careful.

Players should activate the Zakusu Shrine at 3525, -1482, 0167 (near the Naydra Snowfield Chasm). This Shrine is right near the path where players can begin their climb up Mount Lanayru.

How to Get into Mount Lanayru Skyview Tower

Tears of the Kingdom pretty much allows multiple ways to reach Mount Lanayru's summit:

  1. The easy and recommended way to climb Mount Lanayru and reach the Mount Lanayru Skyview Tower is to use Recall on one of the fallen ruins.
  2. The longer and arguably more difficult way is to climb up the road leading to the tower.
  3. Players can also construct a flying vehicle with Zonai Technology and use it to reach the tower. Since the Zonai Technology requires players to have the proper equipment in their Inventory, it may be easier to walk or use the ruins:

Use Recall on Falling Ruins

Occasionally, ruins from the Sky Islands will fall from the sky. They'll have a blue light trailing behind them as they fall. Around coordinates 3770, -1180, 0411. It's also possible for ruins to appear wherever Link may be wandering, so keep an eye on the sky.

Ruins tend to fall/spawn on the mountainside north of Lanayru Tower.

Once players see the ruins, they should hurry over and climb atop. Switch to Recall and use this to elevate Link into the air. Players will want to be aligned with the tower before jumping off and gliding over.

Climb/Walk Up the Path

Another way to reach the Tower is to literally climb Mount Lanayru. Players should start from the Zakusu Shrine (3525, -1482, 0167) and follow the path. It will snake around Mount Lanayru, so as long as players don't stray, they'll eventually end up at the Skyview Tower.

Be warned that this way is much more dangerous - especially for newcomers. There are Ice Chuchus, but there are also silver monsters such as Silver Lizalfos. If players decide to go this route, they should go equipped with a Lizalfos Mask or Majora's Mask.

Create a Flying Vehicle

For those that want to create their own flying vehicle, they can use Fans, a Steering Stick (optional), a Rocket (optional), and a Wing. It's also recommended to have one or two Zonai Batteries attached to the Wing as well.

While a Rocket isn't required for a Fanplane build, it's good for sending the Fanplane off a ledge so that it can lift off into the air. Attaching Fans to the end of a Wing won't be enough to get it flying if the Wing is on flat land. Another way to get the Fanplane moving is to attach the Wing to a Cart. Lastly, a Steering Stick isn't required either, but it will give players better control over the direction of the plane.

Players struggling to make their own can also use the Schema Stone received from the Construct at the Great Abandoned Central Mine (obtained after getting the Autobuild Ability). This will craft a Fanplane (without a Steering Stick) so long as players have the parts or the chilly elixir.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available for Nintendo Switch.
