Hidden throughout The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom are several armor pieces based on previous games in the Zelda series. Ravio's Hood appears in Tears of the Kingdom, based on its original appearance in The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds. Players can find this special helmet in The Depths, but they must be prepared to fight for it.
Ravio's Hood Location in TotK
Ravio's Hood is just one of many hidden armor pieces players can hunt down with an Old Map or simply stumble upon while exploring The Depths. This helmet can be found in the Secluded Coliseum located due east of the Sohse Lightroot at the coordinates 2242, 1900, -0467.
If entering The Depths from the surface, the closest chasm is the Meda Mountain Chasm, from which players should travel north.
How to Get to the Secluded Coliseum
Players starting from the Sohse Lightroot should simply travel east, avoiding the Lynel and Hynox hiding in the Gloom. Eventually, players should spot the entrance to the Secluded Coliseum.
Players traveling from the chasm should continue traveling north until they reach a Zonai Device workstation around coordinates 2648, -1771, -0552.
From the station, they should be able to look up and see the ledge of a cliff. Players must either climb or assemble a vehicle to ascend the rock wall.
After scaling the rock wall, players should continue west, following the rock wall that will rise to their left. They will come upon another workstation and, soon after, the side of the Secluded Coliseum.
How to Beat the Secluded Coliseum
The chest players desire sits in the middle of the coliseum. As they approach, however, the front gate shuts behind the player, and another gate opens up for a gang of Lizalfos.
Link will have to face down and survive five waves of Gloom-powered Lizalfos to get Ravio's Hood. Luckily, the game auto-saves between waves, preventing players from losing too much of their progress on death.
Wave 1: Fire-Breath Lizalfos
Players will start off against two Fire-Breath Lizalfos rushing Link right out of the gate. These Lizalfos can each be easily dispatched with one hit from an ice weapon. If the player has no fire or electric weapons, other disorienting materials such as
Muddle Bud or
Dazzlefruit may make the fight easier.
Wave 2: Ice-Breath Lizalfos
Following suit, more Lizalfos will emerge from another opened gate immediately after the player defeats the previous wave. In the second wave, two Ice-Breath Lizalfos will run to attack Link. Like before, a single hit from a fire weapon will easily kill each of the Lizalfos. A player can use the materials dropped by the Fire-Breath Lizalfos to create fire weapons or arrows if they need them.
Wave 3: Electric Lizalfos
The third wave sees two Electric Lizalfos enter the ring to fight Link. Unfortunately, electric-type enemies have no one-hit weaknesses and also resist the effects of electric attacks. Players can use disorienting materials, as mentioned before, or use the dropped materials from the Ice-Breath Lizalfos to create weapons to freeze the Lizalfos in place and make the fight more manageable.
Wave 4: Silver Lizalfos
After defeating the Electric Lizalfos, a single Silver Lizalfos will step into the battle. This strong enemy is buffed even further by the Gloom, so players should be cautious about how they approach it. It's recommended to use ice or electric weapons to immobilize the Silver Lizalfos as much as possible.
Wave 5: All of the Above
In the final wave, players will face off against four Lizalfos simultaneously, one from each previous wave: Fire-Breath, Ice-Breath, Electric, and Silver. This fight can easily become overwhelming if players are not prepared. Muddle Bud is especially useful at any point during the battle as it will turn the Lizalfos against one another.
The Electric Lizalfos will occasionally shock the other Lizalfos on accident as they all rush to Link at the start of the wave, giving the player a perfect opportunity to strike. The Fire-Breath and Ice-Breath Lizalfos should be picked off first, ideally using ice and fire arrows, respectively, to kill them in one hit.
After they are dealt with, freezing the remaining two with ice weapons is a recommended strategy to allow the player to fight them individually.
Once all five waves of Lizalfos are defeated, the Secluded Coliseum's chest will unlock, and players can claim Ravio's Hood.
What Does Ravio's Hood Do?
The helmet's biggest selling point is a boost to Link's sideways climbing speed when worn: a small reference to all of Link's sideways movement while using Ravio's Bracelet to Wall Merge in A Link Between Worlds.
While it does not gain a matching bonus, Ravio's Hood can give players incredible climbing mobility when paired with the Climbing Gear.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available for the Nintendo Switch.
