Players may notice the four dragons that can be seen in the skies and The Depths of Tears of the Kingdom. The dragons themselves won't hurt Link on purpose, but Link can shoot them with arrows to earn a scale, claw, fang, or horn. Scales and horn shards are the easiest to farm, but players may struggle with the claws.

In Tears of the Kingdom, the dragons won't spawn based on the in-game time. Instead, they follow a flight path that's unaffected by Link's whereabouts (ie: Fast Traveling). To get each of the dragon claws, TotK players will have to brave the Skies and The Depths.

Farming Dragon Claws in TotK

loz totk naydra's claw

To farm Dragon Claws from the four dragons, Link will need to fire an arrow at their hands or feet. To do this:

  1. Use the paraglider to fly towards the dragon.
  2. Drop a little with B-button so that Link is level with the dragon's hand.
  3. Fire an arrow with ZR-button (time will slow down since Link will be in midair).
  4. If successful, a ball of light will appear where the arrow strikes. Fly closer and press A-button to grab it.

If by some chance players fail to grab the claw when it's starting to materialize, the claw will fall down to the surface. Thankfully, it'll glow wherever it lands, so it shouldn't be too difficult to find it. The currents around the dragon will also lift Link into the air whenever he opens the paraglider, meaning he can "bounce" towards the claw if need be.

Players will really want to make sure they're hitting the hand/feet of the dragon. If they hit too high up, they'll get a Dragon Scale instead.

All dragons have a 10-minute cooldown. Once Link farms a dragon claw, he'll need to wait another 10 minutes before he can farm more parts from the dragon. The cooldown only counts during gameplay. Meaning players can't pause their game for 10 minutes and expect the cooldown to expire. The best way to do this is land on the dragon's back and have Link stand there for the duration. However, three of the four dragons will harm Link if he doesn't have the right armor. In worst case scenarios, a dragon could freeze or shock Link before he even nears it.

While it's not a requirement, having Vow of Tulin and more than one Stamina Wheel can make farming from dragons easier. Tulin's ability can push Link closer to the dragon, and having more stamina means he won't tire out as quickly when gliding.

How to Get Light Dragon's Talon

loz totk light dragon path

The Light Dragon can be seen flying above the Surface of Hyrule. She's also the only dragon that doesn't go into The Depths and won't harm Link. Players can reach her by using most of the Skyview Towers. Her flight path circles around Hyrule, flying over most of the Geoglyphs.

Unlike the other three, the Light Dragon is vital to the Dragon Tears Side Adventure as well as obtaining the Master Sword. If players go to Korok Forest before getting it, they can speak to the Great Deku Tree and get the Side Adventure for the sword. This will place a tracker on the Light Dragon, making it much easier to find her.

Bear in mind that completing the Side Adventure or getting the Master Sword before helping the Great Deku Tree will get rid of the quest tracker. Thus, if players intend on farming all parts from the Light Dragon, they may want to hold off on completing this quest.

How to Get Dinraal's Claw

loz totk dinraal path

Dinraal can be found northeast of Hyrule. He'll fly out of the East Akkala Plains Chasm and circle around to the Drenan Highlands Chasm. Once he flies into the Drenan Highlands Chasm, he'll enter The Depths and emerge from the East Akkala Plains Chasm.

The closest landmarks to Dinraal's chasms are:

  • East Akkala Plains:
    • Ulri Mountain Skyview Tower (3493, 2019, 0188)
    • Sinatanika Shrine (3842, 2300, 0048)
  • Drenan Highlands:
    • Typhlo Ruins Skyview Tower (0338, 3123, 0174) Kikakin Shrine (-0395, 2736, 0287)

Plyaers will want to have flame-resistant armor before trying to approach Dinraal. Landing on Dinraal's back without the right armor will set Link on fire. The Flamebreaker Armor can be bought from Goron City. Players can also use a Flameproof Elixir (created from Fireproof Lizards or Smotherwing Butterflies + a Monster Part).

Heat-resistant is not the same as flame-resistant. Wearing heat-resistant gear won't protect Link from Dinraal.

How to Get Naydra's Claw

loz totk naydra path

Naydra can be found in the east of Hyrule. She'll fly out of the Naydra Snowfield Chasm and circle around to the East Hill Chasm. When she approaches the East Hill Chasm, she'll fly into The Depths.

The closest landmarks to the Naydra Chasms are:

  • Naydra Snowfield:
  • East Hill:
    • Kakariko Village (1822, -1002, 0112)

Players will want to have cold-resistant armor or take a Chilly Elixir before nearing Naydra. She'll send up clouds of ice that will freeze Link on contact if he's not equipped properly. Players can craft Chilly Elixirs by cooking Warm Darners or Summerwing Butterflies with a Monster Part. They can get the Snowquill Armor from Rito Village if they'd prefer to wear armor instead of using elixirs.

How to Get Farosh's Claw

loz totk farosh path

Farosh is found in the south of Hyrule between the Gerudo Region and the Faron Region. He'll emerge from the East Gerudo Chasm before returning to The Depths at the Hills of Baumer Chasm. From the Hills of Baumer Chasm, he'll circle back around to the East Gerudo Chasm.

The closest landmarks to Farosh's Chasms are:

  • East Gerudo:
    • Gerudo Canyon Skyview Tower (-2423, -2202, 0302)
    • Siwakama Shrine (-2445, -3345, 0041)
  • Hills of Baumer:
    • Popla Foothills Skyview Tower (0602, -2118, 0098)
    • Susub Shrine (0348, -2051, -0026)

When approaching Farosh, players won't need heat or cold resistant armor. However, they'll want to have something that protects them from electricity/shock. Upgrading the Desert Voe Set (obtainable from Gerudo Secret Club in Gerudo Town) to level 2 will give Link shock-resistance. Alternatively, there are Electro Elixirs, crafted from Thunderwing Butterflies or Electric Darners + a Monster Part.

Where to Use Dragon Claws?

loz totk tunic of memories upgrades

Dragon Claws are considered Monster Parts, so cooking them with specific foods will increase a meal's effect. For example, if players want a stronger and longer lasting meal that increases Attack Power, they should throw in a Dragon Claw or another Dragon Part.

The second way of using Dragon Claws is for upgrading armor. Armor upgrades won't be available until players start helping the Stable Trotters with their visits to the Great Fairies. The following armor will require the Dragon Claws for their upgrades:
