A fan of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom cosplayed the game's main antagonist, Ganondorf, at the 2024 Anime Expo in Los Angeles and shared photos of their handiwork with other Zelda fans. The Tears of the Kingdom cosplayer was complimented by their peers for their attention to detail in bringing the Z elda series' iconic villain to life.

Throughout the Zelda series, most of the misfortune that falls upon the Kingdom of Hyrule is due to the machinations of Ganondorf, the Gerudo King. Ganondorf is consistently a thorn in Link and Princess Zelda's side. In many Zelda games, Ganondorf uses the Triforce of Power to fuel his magic and transform into the porcine demon simply called Ganon.

Ganondorf has had some changes in his design in different Zelda games, and his Tears of the Kingdom incarnation has been popular with fans and cosplayers alike. A Reddit user named JeansLagoon cosplayed Ganondorf at the 2024 Anime Expo in Los Angeles and shared some pictures from the event on the r/Zelda subreddit. In his cosplay, JeansLagoon wore Ganondorf's samurai-inspired attire, which included a black and red robe, gray pants, and bandages to cover part of the torso. The stolen Zonai Secret Stone was shown as a crown atop the cosplayer's head. JeansLagoon wore a red wig and beard and held a prop katana and sheathe to go along with the dark samurai attire. JeansLagoon shared four different poses he made with the katana that were inspired by the moves Ganondorf can make in his boss battle at the end of Tears of the Kingdom.

Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Fan Shares Incredible Ganondorf Cosplay

Despite Ganondorf's depiction in Tears of the Kingdom wearing dark foot wraps, JeansLagoon instead opted for short black boots with golden adornments and exposed toes. Although other Zelda cosplayers have created their depictions of characters like Rauru and Queen Sonia, JeansLagoons' take on the Gerudo King was a hit with fans. In the comments, several users praised JeansLagoon for bringing the Zelda series' iconic antagonist to life at the 2024 Anime Expo. One user stated that JeansLagoon captured Ganondorf's malicious aura and another complimented his attention to detail in the character's design.

Even though Ganondorf does not always appear in the Zelda series, his influence remains strong in the hearts of cosplayers and fans. It remains to be seen if Ganondorf will appear in the planned Legend of Zelda movie.
