Rupees seem to be a rarity in Tears of the Kingdom, so players may be wondering how they can earn more. One method is to sell gems if they've got more than enough to spare. Players should make way for Goron City and seek out Ramella, a Gerudo Merchant.
In Tears of the Kingdom, the value of Amber ore has dropped due to how easily they can be farmed. Ramella is the only merchant who will buy Amber from Link for their full price in the side quest "Amber Dealer." From then on, she's a good merchant to sell to if players don't mind parting with their ore stash.
How to Unlock "Amber Dealer" Side Quest
There are two ways of getting the "Amber Dealer" side quest:
- Before "Yunobo of Goron City" main quest.
- After "Yunobo of Goron City" main quest.
Before "Yunobo of Goron City"
If this is the player's first visit to Goron City, then they'll want to take the path leading to Goron City (1649, 2447, 0381). At one of the gates leading to the City, players will see two Gorons eating Marbled Rock Roast (1501, 2376, 0362). When they see Link, they'll approach him. Speak to them, and they'll offer to buy all of Link's ore for... 3 Rupees.
Agree to their scam, and Link will be stopped from handing over his ore by a Gerudo Merchant named Ramella. She'll call out the Gorons and they'll flee. Ramella will then offer to buy 10 Amber from Link for 200 Rupees - a much better deal. The side quest "Amber Dealer" will then be added to the Adventure Log.
After "Yunobo of Goron City"
If players have already completed the Fire Temple and helped Yunobo awaken as the Sage of Fire, then Ramella can be found in Goron City. She'll be standing by the outdoor ore shop that sells sapphire (1660, 2466, 0385). Speak to her to get the side quest.
Where to Farm Amber
Because of how common Amber is, it's very likely that players will already have 10 Amber by the time they speak to Ramella. If not, then players will want to look for Ore Deposits or Rare Ore Deposits. These can be found around Goron City or in the caves north of Goron City where players can find the YunoboCo HQ.
Players will want to remember that if they're exploring the caves/mines in the Eldin Region, they'll need flame-resistant armor. This can be bought from the Armor Store in Goron City. Alternatively, players can take Flame Elixirs to ward off the heat. These can be made by cooking a Smotherwing Butterfly or Fireproof Lizard with a Monster Part.
Farm Rupees from Ramella
Once Link sells 10 Amber, players will complete "Amber Dealer" side quest. From then on, players can sell 10 of a specific ore to Ramella. She'll cycle through the following gems:
- Topaz: 1000
- Sapphire: 1700
- Ruby: 1300
- Diamond: 5500 Rupees
Ramella will only ask for a different gem if the previous criteria were met. For example, if Ramella asks for 10
Topaz, she won't ask for 10
Diamonds until Link sells her the 10 Topaz first.
Because of the rarity of certain gems, players may want to hold off on selling them in bundles to Ramella. Diamonds can be used for crafting the Champions' Weapons (ex:
Lightscale Trident, Great Eagle Bow, etc). Rubies and other gems are needed for upgrading armor. Thus, players will want to decide if they want to sell 10 bundles of a gem just to fill their pockets.
