Summary

  • Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom players regularly find creative ways to defeat challenging enemies using game mechanics.
  • For example, Redditor Katasan84 showcased an instant method involving Spear recalls to defeat the Flux Construct 3 boss located in the sky islands.

Using the mechanics of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom to their advantage, a player posted a video of how they swiftly defeated a Flux Construct 3 mini-boss located in the skies above Hyrule. The Tears of the Kingdom player stated that they learned the trick from someone else, and answered questions from their peers about the trick they used.

As one of the top games on the Switch, Tears of the Kingdom took the open-world formula of Breath of the Wild and added some additional mechanics that allowed players to be creative about tackling different game objectives. While some players used Link's abilities to build vehicles, such as a TIE Fighter from Star Wars, others preferred to quickly defeat enemies that would normally take a few minutes to dispatch. Even though Tears of the Kingdom has been on the market for over a year, that has not stopped Zelda fans from sharing various methods to trivialize some of the game's more challenging parts.

Though Tears of the Kingdom has a menagerie of dangerous enemies, one player made short work of one such foe. On the r/TearsOfTheKingdom subreddit, a user named Katasan84 posted a 29-second clip that showed their quick takedown of a Flux Construct 3 boss located among Hyrule's sky islands. Katasan84 started the fight by using a Zonai spring to launch Link into the air. Link then readied his bow after he reached the maximum height. Katasan84 attached Bomb Flowers to Link's arrows and fired a volley of five shots. The explosions caused the construct to crumble apart, leaving its core exposed to attack.

Although some Flux Construct fights in Tears of the Kingdom can end badly, Katasan84's battle was far from finished. After paragliding down to the ground, Link drew a Pristine Gerudo Spear that had a Silver Lynel Blade Horn as the spearhead, and threw it seemingly off into the distance. Katasan84 switched to Link's Recall ability to pull it back closer to the construct's body. Link then switched to his Ultrahand ability to grab the core of the Flux Construct 3 and drag it to the Spear's Recall point. This caused the core to take multiple hits in rapid succession, but those hits were enough to defeat the Flux Construct 3.

Katasan84 stated that they borrowed the strategy from a YouTube video by a creator named mrkdgaming23, and credited them with the inspiration. Although the mechanics of Tears of the Kingdom can be tricky to master, players like Katasan84 demonstrated how they can be used to great effect.
