Some side quests in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom can't be started until certain milestones in the story, and The Zora Child's Fate is one of these. After sealing the Rift in the River Zora Village, Zelda can pick up this quest to help a Zora Child figure out why his mum is acting so strangely.

The Lynel Echo is one of the strongest Echoes you can get in Zelda: Echoes of WIsdom.

The Zora Child's Fate Zelda quest has some weird undertones, but by the end of it, everything will make sense and the Zora Child will learn they have nothing to fear. That's because his mum doesn't want to feed him to monsters – she wants to help him swim like other Zora, and to do that, she needs Zelda's help in studying certain types of fish.

How To Start Zora Child's Fate Quest

Zelda Echoes of Wisdom Quest Guide Zora Child's Fate Start Location River Zora

The Zora Child's Fate side quest only unlocks after you have completed the main quest Chaos At River Zora Village. Once you've sorted things out in the main story, you should find a Zora Child standing next to two huts in the eastern portion of the village, about halfway up on the world map.

Like all Side Quests in Echoes of Wisdom, the Zora Child has a speech bubble with a little red exclamation marker in the top-left to indicate he is a quest-giver – he should just be saying "ughhhh". Talk to the Zora Child to learn that he is afraid of swimming, and is suspicious of his mum – he thinks she is trying to feed him to monsters!

All Steps & Which Echoes To Summon

After picking up the quest, walk into the hut on the left, not the one immediately next to the Zora Child. You should see a Zora looking into the pool in the middle of the house. This Zora will request that Zelda bring her three types of Monsters.

This quest requires Zelda to use various Echoes to meet the Zora Mum's requests. Simply summon each Echo into the pool in front of the Zora to trigger the next portion of the quest.

Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom - All Fairy Bottle Locations

Fairy Bottles are important items to have in Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, so here's where you can find all four of them.

Step One: Summon A Sinister Fish

  • Requirement: "A Sinister Fish"
  • Solution: Chompfin (Shark), Tangler, or any other lvl 2 Fish Echo

Step Two: A Fish That Goes "Boom"

  • Requirement: "A Monster That Goes BOOM"
  • Solution: Bombfish

Step Three: A Shocking Jellyfish & Conclusion

  • Requirement: "A Shocking Jellyfish Monster"
  • Solution: Biri

Once you have provided the Zora with all three Fish requests, Echoes of Wisdom players will progress to the next part of the quest. Head outside to see the Zora Mum and the Zora Child interact – as it turns out, the Zora Mum was making a special Scale for the child to help them swim, not feed the child to monsters. You get to see the Zora Child learn to swim, then the Zora Mum turns to Zelda to give her a special reward, too.

Zora Child's Fate Quest Rewards

For completing the Zora Child's Fate quest, Echoes of Wisdom players will get one of the most useful Accessories in the game: the Zora Scale. This Accessory greatly enhances the time you can spend underwater, making underwater sections significantly easier and certain minigames – like the two water-based Acorn Gathering minigames and areas within many dungeons – much more manageable.
