Nintendo announced The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom in mid-June 2024. Echoes of Wisdom Japanese Key Art Reveals New Paragliding Character

As it turns out, one of these variants hides some surprises that Nintendo hasn't talked about yet. These include a new character that can be seen in the upper-left corner of the game's key art used on the official Echoes of Wisdom Japanese website, as first spotted by Twitter user Stealth40k. The smiling character's pointy ears suggest that he is a Hylian, much like Zelda and Link. He is depicted in a brownish red outfit, descending from the skies with a yellow paraglider.

Zelda Wanted Poster and New Snake Enemy Are Also in the Picture

Another difference between the Japanese and international versions of the game's key art can be seen in the bottom-right corner, where the former features a sizable green snake protruding from some grass. The serpent will ostensibly be one of Echoes of Wisdom's enemies. Immediately behind the snake is a small dirt wall that features a wanted poster depicting what appears to be a crudely painted Zelda. This particular detail could be a reference to some of the game's story tidbits, perhaps implying that the princess will have pursuers on her trail during her quest to rescue Link.

The emergence of these findings isn't the first occasion on which the fandom deduced some information about the upcoming title through sheer attentiveness. Back in July, a review of the game's ESRB rating revealed that Echoes of Wisdom will feature Link as a playable character. It's currently unclear how much of the game's campaign will consist of sections in which the player controls Link. But his involvement will likely be limited, not least because Zelda is meant to be the star of Echoes of Wisdom.

The upcoming The Legend of Zelda game will launch exclusively for the Nintendo Switch on September 26. Select retailers are currently offering exclusive Echoes of Wisdom pre-order bonuses to anyone who opts to pre-purchase a physical copy of the game. Echoes of Wisdom is widely expected to be the last Switch-exclusive Zelda game, as Nintendo's seven-year-old hybrid console is finally set to receive a successor in 2025.
