Breath Of The Wild's expansive open world is made all the more impressive by its lively characters. The world is full of chatty NPCs with exciting stories and interesting side quests that make the world feel whole. Among those NPCs are merchants that provide valuable services, including Beedle, a returning character from past games. Here's everything a player needs to know about Beedle in Breath Of The Wild.

Breath Of The Wild: Who Is Beedle?

Beedle is a recurring Legend of Zelda character who first appeared in Wind Waker. He's a cheerful beetle enthusiast (hence the name) and one of several merchants in Breath Of The Wild. He can be found at every stable in the game and Kara Kara Bazaar. He'll also buy anything the player has to offer for the standard price.

He's easily identifiable by the large, beetle-shaped pack he carries on his back. Mischievous players can cause Beedle to fall over by running at him quickly; the weight of the pack will cause him to fall backward.

Breath Of The Wild: Trading With Beedle

Once per in-game day, Beedle can detect whether the player has a beetle in their inventory and will offer to trade for it. If the player refuses, Beedle (jokingly?) Comments that he'll hire someone to steal the beetle from Link, though there is no real penalty as he never follows through on this.

He prefers the Energetic Rhino Beetle and often selects it over other beetles in Link's inventory. If the player chooses to trade with Beedle, he will offer a random meal or elixir in return. Completionists will want to save Energetic Rhino Beetles to upgrade the iconic armor set of the Cap of the Wild, Tunic of the Wild, and the Trousers of the Wild.

When Does Beedle Restock?

Beedle's restock frequency can be pretty confusing. The good news is that each location counts as a different store, so players can stock up on arrows by fast-traveling to each site. Beedle will generally restock if the player fast-travels far away enough, waits a while, and returns, though there are reports of this method not working. The only certainty is that the player must leave the area for Beedle to restock.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is available now on Nintendo Switch. Its sequel, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, will be released on May 12, 2023, for Nintendo Switch.
