Has mismanaged the DC franchise in the eyes of some fans. Now, a new DC fan campaign joins the ranks, which involves campaigning for a specific Green Lantern scene that Snyder previously teased a concept of when expressing why the studio told him that he couldn’t use the character in his cut.
Fans are calling the cut of Zack Snyder's Justice League that puts back the Green Lantern scene the Emerald Edition. What was supposed to be the movie's last scene involved John Stewart visiting Bruce Wayne at his lake house to warn him of the coming threat involving Darkseid. However, after Warner Bros. Told Snyder that he wasn’t allowed to use Green Lantern, he was able to negotiate Martian Manhunter as a replacement. In the last two and a half years since Snyder expressed that the studio told him it had its own plans for the character, fans now make the argument that the studio has shown nothing except a canceled Green Lantern HBO Max series and that with the DCU reboot on the way, there is no reason not to finish the scene in post-production and release it as a celebration of the movie before moving forward.
Snyder initially expressed telling WB, “I cast my guy. You cast your guy, and we’ll let the world decide who Green Lantern is." However, with WB not sticking to its reason for scrapping Green Lantern from Zack Snyder’s Justice League in the first place, fans have had nothing to compare it to. So, they made their voices heard with support from Carr in hopes that WB would listen to them.
To ensure a smooth transition into the DCU reboot, David Zaslav, James Gunn, and Peter Safran might be wise to adhere to the fan base and its directors regarding the Ayer Cut of Suicide Squad, the Emerald Edition of Zack Snyder's Justice League, and the Schumacher Cut of Batman Forever. These versions only require post-production work to be ready for completion.
However, WB has a history of being vocal against the Snyderverse fan base, even expressing regret over releasing the Snyder Cut. Those previous executives have all been pushed out of the company, so with new leadership at WBD and DC Studios, there is still an opportunity to bridge the gap between the factions of DC fans before the reboot could potentially divide audiences further.
