Zack Snyder's Justice League featured an appearance by the Martian Manhunter. While James Gunn is working on the newest iteration of these characters, fans were given a new look at Snyder's version of Martian Manhunter in the form of a collectible statue.
For those who don't know, the Justice League is DC's collection of heroes that unite to defend Earth. Those familiar with Marvel's Avengers know that having a team of superheroes is ideal when defending Earth from ongoing evil and new threats. It's no secret that Marvel Studios' live-action version of the superhero team-up has been much more successful than DC's, but that hasn't stopped fans from asking for more of the Justice League.
In Zack Snyder's Justice League, Martian Manhunter was played by Harry Lennix. Thanks to an Instagram post by Emoção de Colecionador, fans can now get a better look at the character in all his glory. The statue has a lot of detail that captures the character's design from the movie. This unique design ditches the bright colours and spandex for something more tactical and secretive. Considering the character was living in plain sight for years, it makes sense why his costume would be darker and more monochromatic, as one can assume the designers were trying to emulate the spy image. It was revealed that Snyder had different plans for Martian Manhunter that weren't realized. Fans will have to settle for an image of the new statue.
A few years ago, Snyder was the leader of the live-action films for DC. Snyder crafted an overarching narrative that didn't see the light of day thanks to studio interference. The Snyder Cut of Justice League treated fans to never-before-seen clips, moments, and characters that set up his multi-film story. However, Warner Bros. Reportedly regrets releasing Zack Snyder's Justice League, so fans won't likely see Snyder's story on the big screen.
Hopefully, fans will get what they're looking for in DC Comics. Seeing the Justice League come to life on the big screen would be a big moment for many audience members. Fans also want to see fair representation for the upcoming movies, meaning more heroes of color must be represented on the big screen.
Zack Snyder's Justice League is available on HBO Max.
