Yooka-Replaylee will launch on October 9 at $29.99, British developer Playtonic has announced. Some fans will even be able to buy Yooka-Replaylee at a discounted price on release day—and beyond.
Yooka-Laylee is a 2017 indie platformer that generated significant pre-release buzz from being made by several Rare veterans who previously worked on the Donkey Kong Country and Banjo-Kazooie games, among other beloved titles. It debuted to mixed reviews, as underlined by its "Fair" rating on OpenCritic, with an average score of 72 and a 57% reviewer recommendation rate. During the June 2024 Guerrilla Collective showcase, Playtonic announced a remaster of Yooka-Laylee called Yooka-Replaylee.

Yooka-Replaylee stands to be the definitive version of the game if Playtonic keeps going in this direction, but it needs some polish.
Yooka-Replaylee Confirms Availability Details Ahead of Fall 2025 Release
More than a year later, the British studio has locked in the game's availability details, revealing that Yooka-Replaylee is scheduled for an October 9 release on PC and current-generation consoles from Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft. The digital version of the platformer will launch at $29.99, while its physical counterpart will retail for $49.99. As previously announced, the upcoming release has been envisioned as the ultimate edition of the game, to the point that Yooka-Replaylee will even include the original's Shovel Knight crossover.
Yooka-Replaylee Availability Details
- Release date: October 9, 2025
- Price: $29.99 (digital) / $49.99 (physical)
- Platforms: PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2
Yooka-Laylee owners get an automatic 30% on the digital version of Yooka-Replaylee ($20.99).
Even without accounting for inflation, the upcoming remaster will be more affordable than the 2017 original, which launched at $39.99. Playtonic is offering an additional 30% discount to fans who purchased the first game, applied automatically at checkout when Yooka-Replaylee is bought with the same account that owns Yooka-Laylee, bringing the remaster's price down to $20.99. The company’s announcement suggests the deal will be available indefinitely, though the discount may not combine with future promotional pricing. Because eligibility is linked to digital platform accounts, the 30% discount does not apply to physical versions of the game.
Playtonic previously said that Yooka-Replaylee will incorporate a proper world map, completely reworked camera, and a revised character moveset, thus directly addressing some of the criticism of the original game. A new collectible coin currency will also be part of the package, together with additional Yooka-Replaylee arcade mini-games, an orchestral soundtrack, and expanded accessibility options.
Yooka-Replaylee Physical Edition Pre-Orders Now Open
Pre-orders for the physical edition of Yooka-Replaylee are now available from select distributors. Its Switch 2 version won't be of the Game-Key Card variety but will instead come on a normal cartridge, making the game playable from the moment it is inserted into the console. PC gamers were recently able to try Yooka-Replaylee via a demo that debuted during the June 2025 Steam Next Fest. However, the demo has been pulled from Valve's storefront after the event ended, and it's presently unclear whether it will ever return.
