Yakuza: Like a Dragon recently released, and though it's the seventh main title in Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio's popular Yakuza franchise, it is the first to shake things up by opting to go down the RPG genre route. With its shift in genre, the game has a plethora of features that are new to the franchise, such as turn-based combat, a job system, the ability to summon allies into battle, and more.
Each playable party member has a default job role that is exclusive to them, and Ichiban actually has two. In addition to these, there are twelve additional roles, four of which are for females only, and eight which are for males only. There are also two additional job roles available as DLC, one role for males and one for females. Here's a breakdown of the roles and their unlock requirements.
14 Bodyguard
Bodyguard is a male-only job and the requirements for the male party members are as follows: Kasuga Level 1, Nanba Level 15, Adachi Level 1, Han Level 1, and Zhao Level 20/Bond Level 3.
The Bodyguard role uses a katana as its weapon and it specializes in inflicting the bleeding status on enemies when it attacks. This role boosts the dexterity and attack stat of the character, allowing them to deal great damage, though often at the cost of some of their own HP.
13 Host
Host is a male-only job, and the male playable characters have different requirements to be able to take on this role: Kasuga Level 1/Style Level 3, Nanba Level 20/Bond Level 4, Adachi Level 20/Bond Level 4, Han Level 1, and Zhao Level 15.
The Host job uses bottled wine/champagne as a weapon and as it is leveled it unlocks a variety of skills that can buff the party, debuff the enemy, and also steal from enemies too.
12 Enforcer
The next male-only job is Enforcer, and its requirements are as follows: Kasuga Level 20/Confidence Level 7, Nanba Level 26/Bond Level 4, Adachi Level 15, Han Level 15/Bond Level 2, and Zhao Level 25/Bond Level 5.
Enforcers use a riot shield and baton for weaponry, and characters get a boost to their defense stats and max HP while in this role. This job offers blunt attacks, defense buffs, and attacks that inflict status ailments, such as paralysis and sleep.
11 Fortuneteller
Another male-only role, the Fortuneteller job can be unlocked when each of the male characters reaches the following requirements: Kasuga Level 20/Intellect Level 7, Nanba Level 20/Bond Level 3, Adachi Level 25/Bond Level 3, Han Level 25/Bond Level 5, and Zhao Level 20/Bond Level 4.
Fortunetellers wield gemstone weapons and their role is largely about inflicting status ailments on the opponent. They also have access to healing and buff skills to support the party. Their most useful ability is Essence of Spirit Bonding, which revives all fallen allies.
10 Breaker
The Breaker job is male-only and has the characters take on a breakdancer role where they use chain anklets as weapons as they kick and fight. Character requirements are as follows: Kasuga Level 1, Nanba Level 1, Adachi Level 15/Bond Level 2, Han Level Level 15, and Zhao Level 15/Bond Level 2.
While in this role, characters get agility and attack boosts and specialize in blunt attacks that enemies can't block. Later abilities include buffs for the party, as well as restoring health.
9 Foreman
The Foreman job is another male-only job, but this one is particularly useful as it unlocks the "Demolish" skill that can be used around the city to find secret areas. The character requirements are as follows: Kasuga Level 1/Charisma Level 3, Nanba Level 25/Bond Level 5, Adachi Level 1, Han Level 20/Bond Level 3, and Zhao Level 20/Bond Level 4.
Demolition hammers are the weapon of choice when it comes to Foremen, and later abilities use other items, such as a wrecking ball or even a stampede of workers. The Foreman job also has the odd buff and debuff skill under its belt.
8 Chef
The Chef job is another male-only role and the character requirements are as follows: Kasuga Level 15/Passion Level 5, Nanba Level 15/Bond Level 2, Adachi Level 25/Bond Level 4, Han Level 25/Bond Level 4, and Zhao Level 1.
Armed with cooking utensils, the Chef role offers a variety of attacks using cooking methods such as throwing cutlery and crockery. Many of the attacks are able to inflict status ailments on the opponent, such as burning or bleeding.
7 Musician
The Musician role is the last male-only job that is part of the base game, the character requirements are as follows: Kasuga Level 15/Kindness Level 5, Nanba Level 1, Adachi Level 20/Bond Level 3, Han Level 20/Bond Level 3, and Zhao Level 1.
This job uses guitars as its weapon of choice, and much like the Bard roles of other RPGs, in addition to attacks, Musicians can use their music to debuff enemies, inflict status ailments, and buff the party.
6 Devil Rocker (DLC)
The Devil Rocker job is the male-only job that is available via paid DLC. The character requirements are as follows: Kasuga Level 1/Confidence Level 8, Nanba Level 1/Bond Level 5, Adachi Level 1/Bond Level 5, Han Level 1/Bond Level 5, and Zhao Level 1/Bond Level 15.
Devil Rockers are equipped with eletric guitars and they use crazy and reckless attacks that often rely on chance, such as status ailment attacks that risk inflicting the same ailment on themself.
5 Hostess
Unsurprisingly, the female characters also get an exclusive hosting job in the game, and the character requirements to unlock Hostess are as follows: Saeko Level 1 and Eri Level 20/Bond Level 2.
Hostesses use clutch bags as their equipped weapon and as well as dealing damage to their enemies, many of their abilities will also leave the opponent with a status ailment, such as drunk, bleeding or burned.
