Yakuza 3 Remastered is the first game in the Yakuza Remastered Collection. This remastered version polishes the visuals and framerate, but it is still the same Playstation 3 game. Players may be used to the modern Like a Dragon games and be surprised by the difficulty.
The combat is still the same crunchy beat-um-up action, but enemies will prefer blocking most of Kiryu's moves. Boss fights on the harder difficulties can be a slog if players aren't prepared. One of the best moves to acquire as soon as possible is the Komaki Tiger Drop. Learning this devastating counterattack can make combat much easier in Yakuza 3 Remastered.
Substory #62 - Return to the Dragon Palace
Players need to first complete the Return to the Dragon Palace substory to unlock the Tiger Drop. This substory becomes available in Chapter 5 after Kiryu has defeated the Men in Black. Head north to Park Boulevard in Kamurocho.
There will be a gang sitting out front talking about wanting to "hunt."
Head up the road behind the batting cages and save point to save a group of homeless men being attacked by the gang. Fight them off and one of the men will ask for help in clearing out the gang from the Dragon Palace. Return to where the group was before and fight the gang and then their leader. This will finish the substory and open up the Dragon Palace dojo, casino, and gambling hall areas.
Meet Komaki
Go down southwest to the Stardust Club. There will be a man standing out front who will speak to Kiryu. Kiryu's trainer from previous games has returned to Kamurocho and wants to speak with him.
Read the letter and return to the Dragon Palace. Select the dojo and speak to Komaki.
Unlock Komaki Tiger Drop
Komaki will be happy to see his old student. Kiryu can now learn new moves by defeating Komaki's students. Komaki will give three clues to places where Kiryu can find them.
The student that players want to find is the man working at Smile Burger in the Hotel District. Enter the Smile Burger and speak to him to fight. Defeating him will cause Kiryu to remember the Komaki Tiger Drop and unlock the technique.
How to Use Tiger Drop
Tiger Drop is a powerful defensive move. Hold RB/R1 to lock onto an enemy. Then press Y/Triangle right when they attack to counter with a powerful punch.
Kiryu's fist will flash with a blue flame when the move is done correctly. It will also knock most enemies down and do significant damage. The timing is tricky to master, but once players have it down they can end fights quickly. Keep in mind that the counter doesn't work against grapple techniques and certain boss attacks.
The Yakuza Remastered Collection is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
