The Director's Cut edition of Yakuza 0 is set to launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S on December 8, 2025. As long-time fans likely know, this date holds special significance for the franchise, and Yakuza 0 Director's Cut will not be the only release scheduled for that day.

On September 24, Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio held a special RGG Direct to announce new projects and provide updates on existing ones. One of the biggest announcements of the show was the reveal of Yakuza Kiwami 3, a remake of the 2009 game, scheduled to release in February 2026. In the meantime, fans can look forward to the enhanced edition of Yakuza 0, arriving just a few months earlier.

Yakuza 0 Director's Cut Release Date

Yakuza 0 Director's Cut first launched on June 5 as one of the Nintendo Switch 2's debut titles. On December 8, 2025, it will leave exclusivity and become available on current-gen Xbox and PlayStation consoles, as well as PC. Fans can already wishlist the game on the PlayStation Store, while dedicated store pages are also available on the Microsoft Store and Steam. According to the developer, fans will soon be able to pre-order physical editions for all new platforms, with a Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of around $50 USD for both digital and physical versions.

For those wondering what's new in the Director's Cut edition of Yakuza 0, it is considered the definitive version of the 2015 game. One of the biggest additions is a host of new cutscenes that explore the backstories of many characters. The Director's Cut also features a new English voiceover and subtitles in French, German, Spanish, and Italian. Another key addition is the Red Light Raid, an online multiplayer mode with a large roster of fighters. However, the current-gen Xbox, PlayStation, and PC versions don't seem to include any additional content beyond what was in the Nintendo Switch 2 release earlier this year.

Since December 8 marks the 20th anniversary of the Like a Dragon and Yakuza series, two more games are confirmed to be launching on that date for current-gen consoles. Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza Kiwami 2 will release on the Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5. Both remakes have been available on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, but they are finally receiving the current-gen treatment they deserve. While pricing has not been confirmed, they are expected to be affordable, as the previous-gen versions are priced at $20 USD.
