Ever since it was initially announced last year, we have heard next to nothing about Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition, an enhanced re-release of the Wii JRPG, with the only bit of concrete information being that it would release for Switch in 2020.

Instead, we have had to make do with frequent rumors and leaks about its release date which, if accurate, mean it may be coming much sooner than any of us expected. Last month, the game was rated by the South Korean ratings board, which tends to happen only a couple of months or so before a game's release, and now a retailer has possibly revealed the exact date of its release.

According to Amazon Mexico's website, the game will release worldwide on May 29th. Some may recognize this date as being the same day that The Last of Us Part 2  will be released. If this is true, it's quite a bold move on Nintendo's part or a sign of its confidence in the game's success, as Last of Us Part 2  is undeniably one of the most anticipated titles of the year, despite the criticism Naughty Dog has received for its enforcement of crunch.

Whether it or Xenoblade Chronicles' sales will be affected by them sharing a release date remains to be seen, but it should be reiterated that this isn't a hard confirmation. But since Amazon is a popular site that doesn't need to make guesses or make up false dates just to draw in clicks or attention, it's entirely possible that the date is correct, and it does match up with all the previous leaks and rumors that suggested the game would release in May.

Many are hoping that a new Nintendo Direct that has been rumored to happen this month will reveal more details. As we said, very little is known about the game aside from that it will have updated HD visuals, though its status as a Definitive Edition  has fans suspecting that it will contain new content, including stuff that had to be cut from the original game.

Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition  will release exclusively for Nintendo Switch this year.
