XDefiant may not be an extraordinary game when compared to the likes of Call of Duty or Overwatch, but it does manage to bring something new to the table. For instance, XDefiant has factions from different Ubisoft games, like Far Cry and Watch Dogs. Also, the arena shooter emphasizes fulfilling objectives with the team rather than scoring a massive kill count on your own.
Communication is vital for success if you want to fulfill objectives with your team in XDefiant. If you want to communicate effectively, you want to use voice chat so that you and your team are always on the same page. However, many players do not know how to use voice chat in XDefiant. Keeping this in mind, this guide will illustrate how to use voice chat, along with other useful information.
Using Voice Chat In XDefiant
Here is everything you need to know about using voice chat in the free-to-play arena shooter from Ubisoft:
- Voice chat is enabled by default in XDefiant.
- You can choose from two modes: Push-to-talk or Open Mic.
- You can switch between Private and Public voice chat.
You can access Voice Chat settings by following these steps:
- Access Settings.
- Select Audio & Voice Chat.
- Tweak Voice Chat settings as you see fit, including rebinding keys for the following functions on PC:
- Push-to-talk: K (by default).
- Voice Chat Toggle M (by default).
- Voice Chat Channel Switch (by default).
It is worth noting you can also toggle voice chat for your party or specific players from the score menu.
- To enable/disable voice chat from the score menu, press the respective button at the bottom of the screen (for instance, the circle button on a PlayStation controller).
- To mute specific players, hover over their names and select mute.
While voice chat can be great for communicating with your team to get everyone on board with a plan, it can cause problems. For instance, players could come across toxic players, in which case they should mute said toxic players.
Unfortunately, muting players can be an issue, because XDefiant currently does not have a pinging system. Since you can’t ping, you will need to use text chat to communicate with other players, which can be quite a hassle and result in an untimely death.
It goes without saying that Ubisoft will likely eventually integrate a pinging system, but until then, you should take advantage of voice chat to ensure your team is meeting objectives through and through.
