XDefiant: How to Unlock Every Faction Character

XDefiant is an innovative FPS that brings together characters from previous Ubisoft titles into a single arena. This creates a unique situation where characters from franchises like Far Cry and Watch Dogs fight alongside each other. At launch, there are only five factions in XDefiant, namely, Cleaners, Echelon, Libertad, Phantoms, and DedSec.

Unlike some games where factions are purely cosmetic, each faction in XDefiant has a unique set of abilities that can be used offensively, defensively, or for support. As of XDefiant’s Preseason, there are three playable heroes in each Faction, totaling a roster of 15 characters. Unfortunately, only one character is available from the get-go, and you’ll need to work hard to unlock the rest.

How to Unlock Every Faction Character

As mentioned above, each faction will have at least one character readily available upon starting the game. To unlock the remaining characters within any faction (except DedSec), you’ll need to complete specific in-game challenges. Most of these tasks revolve around each faction’s special ability.

To play as the tech-savvy hackers from DedSec, you’ll first need to unlock the entire faction by either purchasing it for 1,000 XCoins or earning 700,000 XP across your playtime.

To track your progress towards unlocking new Faction Characters, head to the Challenges menu, then navigate to the Base tab and scroll down to the Faction Characters section.
