Gamer Cleans Xbox Series X in Gross Viral Video

A gamer went viral on social media after sharing a cleaning video of their Xbox Series X that grossed out many viewers. The Xbox Series X is the latest home console from Microsoft.

The Xbox Series X was launched in November 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic was at its peak. The Series X was unveiled with its lower-end counterpart, the Xbox Series S, which has lower storage and processing speed, along with a smaller price tag. Along with the Xbox One, the Series S and X resulted in Xbox having its best sales year in 2022.

A recurring issue with new-age consoles is the high amount of heat they generate, especially when playing cutting-edge games that require a huge amount of processing power and resources. This is exacerbated by dust accumulation inside the console, and so some gamers, who aren't worried about potentially breaking their warranty, tend to open up the cover and clean the interior themselves. One such user, swagdemon6ix, posted a cleaning video of their Series X in r/XboxSeriesX. They claimed they had opened up their console for the first time since it was bought.

However, what made the video gross is the cakes of dust that they peeled off from within, particularly around the heat sink. While it isn't unusual for the console to gather a lot of dust within three years, many viewers were shocked at how much dust had layered upon the console's components.

The Xbox Series X may be a powerhouse in terms of performance, but it certainly isn't invincible against dust. With new and exciting releases round the corner, players should ensure their consoles are working in optimal condition and aren't gathering too much dust.
