According to recent reports, the Xbox Series S Carbon Black model could be discontinued soon. Microsoft recently unveiled its upcoming lineup of Xbox consoles for the holidays, and one of the versions of the Series S model could be phased out soon, opening up space for the new 1TB version.

It’s no secret that Microsoft is struggling to sell consoles. Recent reports show that Sony’s PS5 is vastly outselling the Xbox Series X/S, as Sony sold nearly five times more PS5 units than Microsoft did with its Xbox Series X/S consoles in the first quarter of the year. Microsoft recently revealed three new Xbox console models that would start to be sold at the end of the year. The new models include two variants of the Series X and one Series S Robot White with 1TB in space, which will cost $349.99.

8 Best Adventure Games For Xbox Series X|S

Fans of the adventure genre have plenty of options to choose from. For Xbox Series X/S players, however, these are the best available.

Now, new reports from Eurogamer indicate that the Xbox Series S Carbon Black model could be phased out soon. In an interview with Microsoft, the gaming media outlet asked whether existing Xbox models would not be sold from 2025 onwards, and Microsoft responded that players could pick between an Xbox Series S, Xbox Series S - 1TB, Xbox Series X - 1TB Digital Edition, Xbox Series X -1TB with ODD, and Xbox Series X - 2TB Galaxy Black Special Edition. This includes all upcoming Xbox Series models announced recently, but it does not include the Xbox Series S Carbon Black model. At the time of writing, however, the old Carbon Black model is still available for sale, so gamers who want one should probably get it before the end of the year.

Time will tell if this model does get phased out in the future. If this is the case, gamers would continue to have the option of picking a Series S with only 512GB of space, but they would only be able to purchase the white model for the 1TB option.

Rumors About Xbox Handheld Continue

Apart from the current Xbox Series X/S, the rumors of a possible Xbox handheld continue. Recently, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer was asked whether he thought an Xbox handheld was a good idea, and Spencer agreed, saying that he believes Microsoft should also have a handheld. However, nothing has been confirmed so far, so gamers should wait until these rumors get some kind of official confirmation before getting excited.
