Some fans have seemingly discovered five new games that could be added to Xbox Play Anywhere in the near future. The list includes the popular Baldur’s Gate 3, as well as four other Xbox titles, but it’s currently unconfirmed if this leak is accurate.
The Xbox Play Anywhere program was originally started in 2016 for the Xbox One, but it took a while to really take off. The service allows gamers to play the titles they own via the Microsoft Store on PC, Xbox, and even supported handhelds, all while bringing their saves, game add-ons, and achievements. While Xbox Play Anywhere is not available for every Xbox game, it currently has over 1,000 titles.
Xbox Game Pass Adds Open-World Sandbox MMORPG Fresh Out of Early Access
An open-world sandbox MMORPG reaches Xbox Game Pass following 16 months of early access, with its 1.0 release introducing new gameplay mechanics.
A Reddit user has recently discovered what could be the next five games to be added to Xbox Play Anywhere. According to them, when they ticked the "Xbox Series X/S" and "Handheld" boxes for playable games on Xbox’s official website, they discovered some titles that are currently not available on the list: Baldur's Gate 3, Mortal Kombat 1, Oddsparks, Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2, and Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon. The major highlight of the list is certainly Larian Studios’ BG3. Released in 2023, Baldur’s Gate 3 won multiple Game of the Year awards and became an incredibly popular title, with over 15 million units sold.
Games That May Be Coming to Xbox Play Anywhere
- Baldur's Gate 3
- Mortal Kombat 1
- Oddsparks
- Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2
- Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon
The list uncovered by the fan is far from certain, as the mention of all five games being available for handhelds has been removed from the Xbox Store at the time of this report. However, it would make sense for Microsoft to ramp up the number of titles coming to Xbox Play Anywhere. With the recent release of the ROG Xbox Ally, which previously had Baldur’s Gate 3 marketed as a playable game, the rumor gains more credibility. In any case, it’s always best to take it with a grain of salt.
Aside from Play Anywhere, Microsoft has also been focused on its Stream Your Own Game program this year. Back in June, for example, Xbox added 15 titles to Stream Your Own Game, including some popular entries such as Final Fantasy 16, My Time at Sandrock, Nier: Automata, and Valheim. It’s still uncertain how successful Microsoft’s push towards streaming games and offering them on different platforms will be, but the company definitely seems to be investing a lot in making its games available to players in as many ways as possible.
