Strangely, the Xbox section seems to have been removed from the Costco website in both the US and UK, prompting many shoppers to wonder why the console, its accessories, and its games no longer appear in search results. While Xbox has recently reported record earnings, due largely to the Xbox Game Pass subscription service, a recent downturn in console sales may be to blame for this sudden decision made by the wholesaler.

An upcoming Xbox console update reportedly resetting system back to factory settings

Xbox has seen its share of ups and downs during this console generation. The Series X has failed to meet or surpass the incredible success of the PS5, with hardware revenue reportedly down around 22% year-over-year as of July 2025. However, Xbox Game Pass has recently hit a new revenue record, with the company reportedly bringing in around $5 billion in revenue for the first time since the service rolled out in 2017. As the sales of physical games continue to trend downward, more and more brick-and-mortar stores are cutting back on their offerings, and it looks like one major wholesale retailer may also be reconsidering its online supply as well.

The Xbox Section Is Missing From the Costco Website in the US and UK

As noted by ResetEra user kubev (and spotted by TheGamer), the Xbox section seems to have been removed from both the US and UK Costco websites, with a search for the console returning no results. Oddly enough, searching for PlayStation and Nintendo still works as expected, with the store continuing to sell consoles, games, and accessories. While some users believe that this is simply a bug that will be fixed soon, others speculate that poor console sales, paired with the most recent Xbox price hike, may have led Costco to pivot away from offering Microsoft's gaming goods for now. Nearly 24 hours after the original ResetEra comment was made, it seems that searching for Xbox on the Costco site continues to yield zero results.

Following the second round of Xbox console price hikes in just one month, former Blizzard president Mike Ybarra recently spoke out against Microsoft, stating that the company was using tariffs as an excuse to raise the price of its hardware. According to Ybarra, the increase in price is a profit issue, and has nothing to do with the current tariffs being imposed on other countries by the Trump administration.
