The Xbox UK Twitter account recently threw shade at PlayStation to promote Xbox Game Pass. Microsoft has made Xbox Game Pass its main focus these past few years, and there's no indication that will change at any point in the near future. And while there are those who aren't fans of the Xbox Game Pass business model, there is no denying that it gives consumers considerable bang for their buck.
For relatively low monthly fees, Xbox Game Pass gives subscribers access to well over 100 video games at any given time. The Xbox Game Pass library consists of many classic titles as well as day one releases, with subscribers getting immediate access to Xbox-published games without actually having to buy them. PlayStation has attempted to compete with Xbox Game Pass by revamping its PlayStation Plus service, but it has stopped short of releasing its first-party exclusives day one on its subscription service.
As spotted by Pure Xbox, PlayStation UK recently took to Twitter to highlight that Yakuza 0 through Yakuza 6 were all currently enjoying massive discounts as part of the PlayStation Store's ongoing January sale. Those interested can snag those main series Yakuza games for relatively cheap if they buy them before January 17. However, Xbox UK took the opportunity to point out that Xbox Game Pass subscribers can play all those games through their subscription, plus Yakuza: Like a Dragon and the recently-released Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name.
There is likely heightened interest in the Yakuza series right now thanks to the upcoming release of Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth early impressions have been largely positive, and footage of the game released so far has been incredibly impressive. Those curious about the game may want to play through its predecessors before jumping into the new entry, and if so, they have the opportunity to do so fairly cheap, regardless if they decide to buy them on PlayStation or play through them on Xbox Game Pass.
Yakuza Games on Xbox Game Pass List
- Yakuza 0
- Yakuza Kiwami
- Yakuza Kiwami 2
- The Yakuza Remastered Collection
- Yakuza 6: The Song of Life
- Yakuza: Like a Dragon
- Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name
While Xbox Game Pass subscribers can currently play through all the main series Yakuza games through the service, it's worth pointing out that PlayStation gamers that buy them get to keep the games forever. Games are removed from Xbox Game Pass regularly, and so there will almost certainly come a time when the Yakuza games are no longer available to play through Microsoft's subscription service.
As far as the next game in the series, there are currently no plans to bring Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth to Xbox Game Pass, but that could change. As some may recall, Yakuza: Like a Dragon joined Xbox Game Pass less than a year after its initial launch, and so there's a chance history could repeat itself with Infinite Wealth.
