Xbox Game Pass recently announced its wave one additions for cloud, console, and PC platforms this month, with the service already having 12 games slated for the month. The Legend of Tianding, The Walking Dead: A New Frontier, and TWD: Michonne were all added on November 1, but today, November 3, is all about one new day one game.
Ghost Song joins Xbox Game Pass today, with this 2D Metroidvania adventure game focused on self-discovery, ancient mysteries, and comic abilities as players seek to unearth an alien world's long-buried secrets. Players awaken on this hostile planet as a "Deadsuit," who is prepared for combat but has no seeming purpose. Indeed, this Deadsuit is reminiscent of Metroid's Samus, especially with the blaster, but everything seems to be turning up aces for it so far.
As of this writing, Ghost Song sits at an 84 Top Critic Average on aggregate website OpenCritic, with 92% of critics recommending the title. Generally speaking, it seems the game has been highly praised for its atmosphere, for its combat, for its narrative, and for how simply, yet effectively it delivers its Metroidvania elements. It sounds like a game that was truly inspired by the beloved Metroid series and not one simply ripping off of it. Metroid fans would definitely do well to check it out on any platform, but obviously, Xbox Game Pass subscribers don't have to pay extra to access it.
As far as the rest of the month is concerned, Xbox Game Pass subscribers can expect Football Manager 2023 and Return to Monkey Island to drop on November 8, Vampire Survivors on November 10, Pentiment and Somerville on November 15, Gungrave G.O.R.E. On November 22, and Warhammer 40K Darktide on November 30. Wave 2 will be revealed about halfway through the month, revealing even more titles, but more importantly, surprise announcements could come at any time. With Xbox Game Pass, anything goes—sometimes literally.
While additions often outpace removals, it's always important to pay attention to what is leaving Xbox Game Pass in November. This month, that includes Football Manager 2022 (being replaced day and date with Football Manager 2023) and Art of Rally, Fae Tactics, Next Space Rebels, One Step From Eden, and Supraland on November 15. The Xbox Game Pass app has also listed Subnautica as leaving on November 15, although it wasn't officially announced. This could be a mistake, but anyone wanting to take a dive soon would probably be wise to do so before November 15.
Xbox Game Pass subscribers get a handful of games every month.
