Microsoft has updated its Xbox Game Pass subscription service to include the surprise new game Supraland: Six Inches Under. Generally speaking, Xbox Game Pass subscribers usually have a pretty good idea of what to expect from the service from one month to the next, which makes surprise additions to the lineup all the more exciting.
Whenever a game is going to be a day one Xbox Game Pass game, usually that's mentioned with its release date announcement. Because of this, Xbox Game Pass subscribers sometimes know about new games coming to the service months in advance. And even when Xbox Game Pass subscribers aren't clued in this way, they still typically get some kind of notice. Most months, Microsoft will announce the new Xbox Game Pass games coming in the first half, followed by an update in the middle of the month that spotlights the games coming in the second half.
This didn't happen with Supraland: Six Inches Under, which went completely unmentioned when Microsoft announced the new Xbox Game Pass games for the second half of May 2023. Despite not getting any kind of formal announcement, Supraland: Six Inches Under is available for Xbox Game Pass subscribers to download and play right now. Supraland: Six Inches Under is a first-person adventure game with a focus on solving puzzles in a humorous world full of "gags," as its official description says.
Supraland: Six Inches Under is billed as a "standalone follow-up" to the original Supraland, itself a hidden gem that gained extra attention thanks to Xbox Game Pass. While the original Supraland was available on Xbox Game Pass for a while, though, it's since been removed. Supraland: Six Inches Under being standalone means Xbox Game Pass subscribers shouldn't have to play to the original game to know what's going on, but if they really want to, it should be noted that the game is currently 40% off and available for just $11.99 for a limited time.
Supraland: Six Inches Under is hardly the final game to join the Xbox Game Pass lineup in May 2023. Xbox Game Pass subscribers still have Planet of Lana, Cassette Beasts, Massive Chalice, and Railway Empire 2 to look forward to next week, while Chicory: A Colorful Tale is coming on May 30. There's also a couple of Xbox Game Pass games confirmed for June 2023 as well, including Slayers X: Terminal Aftermath: Vengance of the Slayer on June 1. It's possible that Xbox Game Pass subscribers will be surprised with another shadow drop, but they shouldn't hold their breath.
