Xbox Game Pass Ultimate has added Volcano Princess to its content catalog. The unusual RPG with a unique parenting mechanic is the 12th new title to reach the subscription service since the beginning of June, and the 73rd Xbox Game Pass Ultimate release of 2025.
Developed by Chinese studio Egg Hatcher, Volcano Princess is a genre hybrid blending role-playing with social sim elements into a quirky game about parenting. Set in a fantastical medieval kingdom blessed by a Volcano Goddess, it centers on a widowed father raising his daughter while navigating the challenges and joys of parenthood. Players thus take on the role of the girl's sole guardian, shaping her future through everyday decisions.

Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer gives a special shoutout to an upcoming coming-of-age adventure that's launching on Xbox Game Pass on day one.
While Volcano Princess was originally released via Steam in April 2023, it wasn't until today, June 24, that it launched for the Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. The debut of its console ports also marks its day-one release on Microsoft's subscription service, with the parenting RPG being the 12th new title to join Xbox Game Pass Ultimate in June 2025. The original PC version of Volcano Princess has also been added to the PC Game Pass library. XGP Ultimate subscribers can stream Egg Hatcher's game via Xbox Cloud Gaming as well.

As of today, Volcano Princess boasts "Overwhelmingly Positive" Steam user reviews, based on over 39,000 player impressions. While it never garnered enough attention from professional critics for calculating meaningful review aggregates, its Steam scores suggest this may be one of the higher-quality social sim titles currently available on Xbox Game Pass. Microsoft's subscribers who fancy themselves fans of games with social interactions have thus received two potentially head-turning games this month, with the first one being 11 Bit Studios' The Alters, which reached Xbox Game Pass on June 13.
Looking ahead, the next date that XGP users want to circle on their calendars is June 26, when the service will add the console version of Eremite Games' city builder Against the Storm and the remasters of the first three Warcraft games—the latter being exclusive to PC Game Pass. Call of Duty: WWII is then set to reach the Xbox Game Pass content catalog on June 30, arriving as its final new title for this month. Beyond that, Rise of the Tomb Raider and Little Nightmares 2 are both set to arrive on July 1, followed by a day-one release that is Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 ten days later.
The ten-day gap between Little Nightmares 2 and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 will likely feature additional releases. However, these are only expected to be revealed as part of the Wave 1 Xbox Game Pass lineup for next month, which will most likely be announced on July 1.
