Microsoft has revealed the second wave of the Xbox Game Pass releases for January 2025. The newly confirmed roster includes eight new Xbox Game Pass titles, as well as five additions to the Standard-tier library.

Since summer 2024, Xbox Game Pass has consistently removed more titles than it added every single month. The last month that was a net positive for the service was July 2024, when the platform added 12 games while removing nine others.

This unenviable streak is now finally nearing its end, with Microsoft's newly shared January 2025 Wave 2 lineup including eight new titles, which will push its monthly tally to 12 releases—matching this month's removals. Other than Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders, which just reached Xbox Game Pass Ultimate on January 21, the subscription service will soon receive Gigantic: Rampage Edition, Starbound, Eternal Strands, Orcs Must Die! Deathtrap, Shady Part of Me, Sniper Elite: Resistance, and Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector, in that order.

Xbox Game Pass Standard Getting 5 New Titles in the Second Half of January 2025

The newly announced roster also includes five existing offerings that will soon reach the Xbox Game Pass Standard library: Flock, Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess, Magical Delicacy, Tchia, and The Case of the Golden Idol. All five were originally added to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate in July 2024, and are now scheduled to expand to the budget tier of the service on January 22.

Microsoft's latest lineup announcement also saw it confirm one arrival for next month in the form of Far Cry New Dawn, which is slated to debut on February 4. This will be the third installment in Ubisoft's iconic series to join Xbox Game Pass, following Far Cry 5 and Far Cry 6, which debuted in July 2022 and December 2023, respectively. Both previous entries have remained long-term additions to Microsoft's content catalog and are still available to subscribers as of early 2025, so Far Cry New Dawn will likely follow suit.

As per usual, the latest wave of XGP releases also saw Microsoft confirm which titles will be leaving its service next. There were no surprises on this front, with the announcement merely reiterating what a recent update to the Xbox app already revealed: Xbox Game Pass is losing six titles on January 31. These soon-to-be-departing games are: Anuchard, Broforce, Darkest Dungeon, Death's Door, Maquette, and Serious Sam: Siberian Mayhem. The first wave of the Xbox Game Pass February 2024 lineup is expected to be revealed early next month, most likely on February 4, given Microsoft's tendency to announce new additions to its service on Tuesdays. In the meantime, the next Xbox Developer Direct is likely to yield some more Xbox Game Pass-related news on January 23.
