At least three well-received RPGs will be leaving the Xbox Game Pass subscription service on November 30, so subscribers are running out of time to play them. Xbox Game Pass almost always has more games added than removed, and that is especially true in the aftermath of the service's price hike. Microsoft jacked up the price of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate to $29.99 per month, but did so with the promise that more games will be added.
As soon as the Game Pass Ultimate price hike was announced, Microsoft added over 40 games, consisting of the mega hit Hogwarts Legacy, a bunch of Ubisoft titles, and more. There have been quite a few noteworthy games added to Xbox Game Pass in the weeks after the price hike as well, including the blockbuster Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and smaller indie hits. More recently, Microsoft hosted an Xbox Partner Showcase that confirmed even more games coming to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate in the near future, so subscribers have plenty to look forward to. But while there will be plenty of new games added to Game Pass soon, some games will also be getting the boot.
Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Confirms Surprise Day 1 Release and 6 Other Games Coming Soon
Xbox Game Pass Ultimate confirms seven games that subscribers can look forward to playing in the very near future.
The next batch of games leaving Xbox Game Pass will depart on November 30. That day, subscribers will have to say goodbye to Barbie Project Friendship, Lords of the Fallen, Octopath Traveler, Octopath Traveler 2, and SteamWorld Build. Barbie Project Friendship is unlikely to break too many hearts, though the game does have co-op support, and it's always a bummer when a co-op game leaves Game Pass. What will sting more are the RPGs that are leaving Game Pass that same day, with the 2023 Lords of the Fallen game and the first two Octopath Traveler games all on the way out. It's also disappointing seeing city builder game SteamWorld Build go, but RPG fans are definitely taking the biggest hit when it comes to the games leaving Game Pass in November 2025.
List of Games Leaving Xbox Game Pass on November 30
- Barbie Project Friendship
- Lords of the Fallen (2023)
- Octopath Traveler
- Octopath Traveler 2
- SteamWorld Build
For those unfamiliar with the RPGs leaving Game Pass soon, Octopath Traveler and its sequel are throwback turn-based RPGs from Square Enix. The original 2018 game popularized the HD-2D art style that the company has used for some of its more recent remakes, and both games earned mostly positive reviews from critics. Fans of old-school JRPGs especially will enjoy the Octopath Traveler games, and so it's a shame that they're leaving Game Pass so soon. Unfortunately, it's highly unlikely that most Game Pass subscribers will be able to get through the games before they're removed. Both Octopath Traveler games take an average of 60 hours to beat, and those looking to hit 100% completion can expect roughly 100 hours of playtime. However, Game Pass subscribers can at least try before they buy and make some progress in the Octopath Traveler games while they're still on Game Pass.
Lords of the Fallen, meanwhile, is a very different kind of RPG. The 2023 Lords of the Fallen is a commercially successful Soulslike action-RPG with a unique gimmick that lets players explore two different versions of the game world. Lords of the Fallen takes about half the time to beat than the Octopath Traveler games on average, but that will largely depend on the skill of the player.
Octopath Traveler and Lords of the Fallen Are Leaving Game Pass at the Worst Possible Time
The Octopath Traveler games and Lords of the Fallen are leaving Game Pass just as new games in their respective series are about to be released. Octopath Traveler 0 is dropping on December 4, while Lords of the Fallen 2 is expected to launch at some point in 2026. Anyone that wants to dip their toes into these RPG franchises are running out of time to do so with their Game Pass subscriptions, as the games are leaving on November 30.
