Summary
- Xbox Game Pass is losing 10 games on March 31.
- This includes 4 Yakuza games and Monster Hunter Rise.
- Other great games are getting the boot from Game Pass on the same day.
Monday, March 31 is going to be a sad day for Xbox Game Pass subscribers, as that's when the subscription service is losing some of its best games. Games are removed from Xbox Game Pass twice a month, though any given month usually has more additions than it does departures. Not all months are treated equal, as there are months when the games leaving Xbox Game Pass are relatively low profile, but there are also times when the games getting the boot are some of the best titles that the service has to offer.
It's been confirmed that Xbox Game Pass is losing 10 games on March 31. The games on the chopping block are Hot Wheels Unleashed 2, Lil Gator Game, MLB The Show 24, Monster Hunter Rise, Open Roads, The Lamplighter's League, Yakuza 0, Yakuza Kiwami, Yakuza Kiwami 2, and Yakuza: Like a Dragon. Needless to say, time is running out for Xbox Game Pass subscribers to check the games out before they're removed from the subscription service.
Rumor: 2 New Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Games Leaked
It seems two new games will be joining the Ultimate tier of the Xbox Game Pass subscription service in the near future.
10 games leaving Xbox Game Pass hurts, but it's the quality of these games that makes Monday, March 31 a particularly sad day for the subscription service. Seeing the four Yakuza games leave Game Pass is depressing, as they represent the first entries in the series. There are certainly gamers who discovered Yakuza through Game Pass by playing these games, but that will no longer really be possible after March 31.
List of Xbox Game Pass Games Leaving March 31
- Hot Wheels Unleashed 2
- Lil Gator Game
- MLB The Show 24
- Monster Hunter Rise
- Open Roads
- The Lamplighter's League
- Yakuza 0
- Yakuza Kiwami
- Yakuza Kiwami 2
- Yakuza: Like a Dragon
Monster Hunter Rise leaving Game Pass is also disappointing. Even though Monster Hunter Wilds has just launched, there are still those that enjoy Monster Hunter Rise and may have been playing it through their Game Pass subscription. With an 88 overall critic rating according to review aggregate site OpenCritic, Monster Hunter Rise is one of the highest-rated games currently available on Game Pass, so it's sad to see it go.
Game Pas ssubscribers may want to prioritize Lil Gator Game, a quirky indie adventure that mixes elements of Zelda-style exploration and 3D platforming. It earned mostly positive reviews and is also one of the better games on Game Pass. Lil Gator Game is also very short, so I highly recommend Game Pass subscribers check it out while it's still on the service. MLB The Show 24, meanwhile, is leaving at a time when MLB The Show 25 has skipped Game Pass, hurting the service's value for baseball fans.
Clearly, Monday, March 31 is going to be a sad day for Xbox Game Pass subscribers, though the good news is that April 2025 is already looking stacked when it comes to new additions to the service. South of Midnight, Blue Prince, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, and more are all on deck for April, so there should be no shortage of new games to play.
