Xbox Game Pass subscribers will be saying goodbye to at least five games at the end of August 2025, including some fairly heavy hitters. The end of every month is a sad time for Xbox Game Pass subscribers, as that's when they have to say goodbye to another batch of games. New Game Pass game additions usually make up for the departures, but it's always a bummer regardless.
Xbox Game Pass has been on a ridiculous roll this year, with the subscription service adding one critically-acclaimed day one game after another. Titles like Blue Prince and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 have kept Game Pass subscribers enthralled, with titles like Abiotic Factor, Doom: The Dark Ages, and Rematch keeping the momentum going strong. August 2025 has seen its fair share of new Game Pass game additions and has more on the way, but it is also saying goodbye to some of the service's best games.
Yet Another Game is Confirmed to Be Leaving Xbox Game Pass in August 2025
A fourth game is confirmed to be leaving the Xbox Game Pass subscription service later in August 2025.
On August 31, Xbox Game Pass subscribers will be losing access to Ben 10: Power Trip, Borderlands 3, Paw Patrol: Mighty Pups Save Adventure Bay, Sea of Stars, and This War of Mine: Final Cut. Out of these, there are three departures that stand out as particularly disappointing. Borderlands 3 is a massive co-op adventure that will leave a huge void in the Game Pass library, while Sea of Stars is a brilliant turn-based RPG with co-op support and a fantastic soundtrack. Finally, This War of Mine: Final Cut is the ultimate version of the critically-acclaimed war survival game from 11 bit Studios, the same company behind other Game Pass hits like The Alters and Frostpunk 2.

These five Xbox Game Pass games are next on the chopping block, but August 2025 has already seen a handful of titles removed from the subscription service. Earlier this month, Xbox Game Pass subscribers lost access to Anthem, Farming Simulator 22, and Persona 3 Reload. Persona 3 Reload was one of the highest-rated games on the service, so August 2025 has been a little rough when it comes to Game Pass departures.
On the bright side, there are some n ew games coming to Xbox Game Pass in the near future. Gears of War: Reloaded will be making its debut on August 26, while Herdling is on deck for August 21. It's likely that even more Xbox Game Pass games will be coming in the second half of August 2025, but they have not been revealed at the time of this writing.
