Xbox Game Pass is losing Return to Monkey Island and two other titles later today, October 31. The upcoming catalog rotation will bring the total number of October 2025 Xbox Game Pass departures to seven.

The new pirate leaders in Return to Monkey Island

Ranked in the 98th percentile of all releases scored on OpenCritic, Return to Monkey Island is one of the highest-rated titles currently available on Xbox Game Pass. It is the latest addition to the Monkey Island franchise, set shortly after the events of Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge. While playing the first two entries isn't required for enjoying Return to Monkey Island, it enhances the experience due to a plethora of callbacks scattered throughout the 2022 game. Playing the later installments beforehand will have a similar effect.

Return to Monkey Island Leaving Game Pass After 3 Years

The October 31 Xbox Game Pass catalog rotation will see the service lose Return to Monkey Island, Metal Slug Tactics, and Jusant. The trio is expected to depart around midnight local time, so players should technically have access until November 1. In addition to being the highest-rated title in this batch, Return to Monkey Island also has the longest Game Pass tenure of the group, having originally joined the service in early November 2022. It is now leaving just eight days short of its third anniversary on the platform. As usual, the October 31 departures are currently available for purchase at member-only discounts of up to 20%.

Xbox Game Pass already lost four other titles in mid-October 2025: Cocoon, Core Keeper, Donut County, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants Unleashed. With this latest batch, the total number of removals for the month rises to seven. At the same time, October saw 66 new additions to the service, resulting in a net gain of 59 titles. Even excluding the large batch of Ubisoft+ Classics shadow dropped alongside the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate price hike on October 1, the platform still added 19 new releases—far more than it lost over the past 31 days.

Xbox Game Pass October 2025 Catalog Stats

  • New games added: 66*
    • Ubisoft+ Classics added: 47
  • Games removed: 7
  • Net change: +59

*The number excludes titles that were already available on PC Game Pass or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate but were added to lower tiers or expanded to more platforms (PC, cloud, console).

Xbox Game Pass currently has half a dozen confirmed titles for November 2025. The upcoming batch kicks off with 1000xResist and Football Manager 26, both of which are dropping on the first Tuesday of the month, November 4. Whiskerwood, Voidtrain, Winter Burrow, and Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will launch over the ten days that follow. The November 15 Xbox Game Pass departures are expected to be officially announced on or around November 4, when Microsoft will most likely detail the entirety of its Wave 1 lineup for next month.
