Train Sim World 4 is now available on Xbox Game Pass. The latest installment in the multi-platform series promises to expand the selection of compelling simulation games on the subscription service, and adds to the fast-growing list of titles that have reached Xbox Game Pass since the turn of the month.
The Train Sim World franchise is developed by Dovetail Games, a British studio with over 15 years' worth of experience creating in-depth simulation titles. The UK company has also been a long-time supporter of Microsoft's subscription platform, with its latest Xbox Game Pass release being Train Sim World 3.
Acclaimed RPG's Xbox Game Pass Debut Seemingly Leaked by Microsoft
Microsoft shares and then retracts what appears to be a premature announcement of a critically acclaimed RPG coming to Xbox Game Pass.
And while that 2022 title was a day-one addition to the service, its sequel has now reached Xbox Game Pass some four months following its initial debut. Specifically, Microsoft's subscribers now have access to the Standard Edition of the game, which is regularly priced at $49.99. Although this version is feature-complete, it also comes with over 90 pieces of DLC, keeping up with the tradition of simulation games being a fairly expensive sport for people who have the itch to own everything. The good news is that Train Sim World 4 was designed in a way that doesn't expect players to actually buy all it has to offer, but merely pick and choose extra routes and trains that they like, if any.

While the original Train Sim World 2020 had a 17-month stint on Xbox Game Pass, the next two entries in the franchise were only available on the service for a year each. That track record suggests Train Sim World 4 also won't be available to Game Pass members beyond February 2025. But even a year-long availability period should still offer plenty of time for gamers to delve into this latest entry in Dovetail's franchise, which has amassed over 1,200 "Mostly Positive" Steam reviews since its September 2023 release.
Train Sim World 4 is the third February addition to Microsoft's subscription catalog, arriving shortly after the Xbox Game Pass library expanded to include Persona 3 Reload and Anuchard. Madden NFL 24 is also set to reach the service later this week, having been scheduled for a February 8 debut.
Beyond that, at least five more games are coming to Xbox Game Pass later this month, including the Resident Evil 3 remake and ArtPlay's critically acclaimed metroidvania Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. Since Microsoft just revealed those new arrivals on February 6, it's plausible that there won't be any more confirmations of new Xbox Game Pass additions until the second half of the month.
