Summary

  • Xbox Game Pass Core added Batman: Arkham Knight, Tunic, and Monster Sanctuary.
  • These are the first new titles to reach the XGP Core library since December 2024.
  • Even before launching Xbox Game Pass Core in September 2023, Microsoft committed to updating its content catalog several times per year, and has so far delivered on that promise.

Xbox Game Pass Core has added Batman: Arkham Knight and two more titles to its content library. These arrivals mark the first Xbox Game Pass Core expansion in 2025.

The most affordable tier of Microsoft's subscription service was originally announced in July 2023 and launched two months later. Xbox Game Pass Core was officially positioned as a replacement for Xbox Live Gold, serving as the cheapest way of having online functionality on Microsoft's consoles while still getting to play some free games in the process. Since its debut, the service has been sporadically adding new titles to its content catalog.

The ever-growing Xbox Game Pass content catalog expands to include yet another title, which is essentially five games in one.

Continuing this trend, the Xbox Game Pass Core library expanded on March 26, when it introduced Batman: Arkham Knight, Tunic, and Monster Sanctuary. Microsoft's subscribers can play all three of these titles on both the Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. Batman: Arkham Knight has been part of the wider Xbox Game Pass library since June 2019, whereas Monster Sanctuary and Tunic were originally added in December 2020 and March 2022, respectively. So, while all of these games were offered to XGP members for years, their addition to the Core-tier catalog suggests that they aren't in danger of being removed from Microsoft's subscription service in the foreseeable future.

These arrivals mark the first expansion of the lowest tier of Microsoft's gaming service in 2025. Prior to today, the Xbox Game Pass Core catalog most recently expanded in early December 2024, when it added Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, DayZ, and Goat Simulator. Based on Microsoft's track record, the Core library seems unlikely to receive any more titles before summer 2025 at the earliest. This would also be consistent with the company's original announcement of the service, which promised that the XGP Core catalog would be updated several times per year.

Xbox Game Pass has only one more confirmed title for March 2025. That would be Atomfall, a new post-apocalyptic survival game from British studio Rebellion. Atomfall has technically been available in early access since March 24, but its international release is only slated for the 27th. Rebellion's latest title will be available day one to PC Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members.

Xbox Game Pass April 2025 Lineup Isn't a Complete Mystery

Microsoft's subscription service is expected to announce the first wave of its next month's releases on or around April 2. But at least several of them are known already, as Xbox Game Pass currently has six games confirmed for April 2025. The first of those to materialize will be South of Midnight, an action adventure from We Happy Few developer Compulsion Games, which Microsoft acquired in 2018. Descenders Next and Commandos: Origins are then planned to reach the higher tiers of Xbox Game Pass on April 9, followed by Blue Prince a day later. The April 2025 Wave 2 lineup will include Tempopo and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, which are scheduled to arrive on April 17 and 24, respectively. In the meantime, Xbox Game Pass is set to lose ten titles—including four Yakuza games—on March 31.
