The Xbox Game Pass Wave 1 lineup for August 2025 has been officially announced. The release roster for the next two weeks includes Assassin's Creed Mirage, 9 Kings, and a handful of other titles, one of which is returning to Xbox Game Pass after nearly three years.
Microsoft's subscription service typically announces its monthly Wave 1 lineups on the first Tuesday of every month. In July 2025, seven Xbox Game Pass titles were confirmed for the first half of the month.

In contrast, the newly announced August 2025 Wave 1 roster includes eight games. Exactly half of those are brand-new additions to the service, with this list encompassing Rain World, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Aliens: Fireteam Elite, and 9 Kings. The other half of the Wave 1 lineup consists of Xbox Game Pass Standard additions: Citizen Sleeper 2, Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders, MechWarrior 5: Clans, and Orcs Must Die! Deathtrap.

The newly confirmed releases kick off with Rain World, which is already available beginning today, August 5. The four Xbox Game Pass Standard titles are all scheduled to arrive tomorrow. Notably, this month's Wave 1 lineup does not feature any day-one additions to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. However, given that summer is typically the slowest period for new releases, this omission is not unexpected. The second half of the month is already confirmed to include at least two day-one titles in the form of Herdling and Gears of War: Reloaded, scheduled to arrive on August 21 and 26, respectively.
The four upcoming Standard-tier releases follow a pattern Microsoft outlined around this time last year, when it stated that most day-one titles would take six to twelve months to reach Xbox Game Pass Standard. As none of these upcoming titles were developed by Xbox-owned studios, they may remain in the Standard library for less than a year. Today's lineup announcement also saw Microsoft confirm the upcoming list of departures that were already mentioned in the "Leaving Soon" section of the Xbox app at the beginning of the month. Specifically, Anthem, Farming Simulator 22, and Persona 3 Reload are all scheduled to leave Xbox Game Pass on August 15.
Looking ahead, the Wave 2 lineup for this month is likely to be announced on August 19. While it's already known to include Gears of War: Reloaded and Herdling, the rest of its contents remain a mystery. August 19 is also the date when Microsoft is expected to list the titles that will be leaving Xbox Game Pass at the end of the month.
